Library to Undergo Modernization
The Plainview-Old Bethpage Public Library, located at 999 Old Country Road in Plainview, will be closed for renovations from Monday, September 14 to Friday, September 18.
“In keeping with our commitment to deliver even better service to our patrons, the Plainview-Old Bethpage Public Library will undertake a substantial modernization. We will install a new circulation desk and a companion information desk, both designed to enhance your library experience,” a statement from the library said.
The new two-desk design will feature the information desk front and center when residents enter the library. Residents will be able to get information on programs, fax machine assistance, help with the copy machines, program registration and general information about other library services and materials at the information desk.
The circulation desk will strictly be for transitions involving checking materials in and out.
While the library is closed, the book drop will remain open although there will be no overdue fines. In addition, reserves will be held until the library reopens and the library recommends freezing your holds.
Residents are encouraged to visit neighboring libraries, including Bethpage, Farmingdale, Hicksville, Jericho and Syosset, if your card is punched for direct access.
“The Library Board of Trustees and staff thank the community for their continued support. We look forward to providing our patrons with a library experience that is welcoming, convenient and easy to use.”
The library will re-open on September 19 at 9:30 a.m. Please visit www.poblib.org for more information, 24/7 access to on-line databases and “tutor.com.”
