From Levittown Superintendent Dr. Herman Sirois

The start of a new school year brings new challenges and a sense of excitement to every member of the educational family in Levittown. It is a time for optimism, high energy and a commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of each child we have the responsibility to nurture, educate and support.

In preparation for the 2009/10 school year, many of our teachers worked on curriculum projects over the summer. Curricula were developed for a number of new and exciting high school courses. In addition, curricula for several middle and high school courses were revised to ensure that Levittown students continue to be exposed to high standards of education. As always, our buildings were thoroughly cleaned and maintained. The custodial staff has worked diligently to ensure that our students have safe, clean schools to return to in September. Several construction projects were also completed over the summer.

Our district website will soon have a new look. Please visit it periodically (www.levittownschools.com) to keep current on school and district information. We invite all interested parties to join our ListServ so that important information can be made available to them via home computers.

During these difficult financial times, our budget assures fiscal stability and responsibility while maintaining academic excellence. We rely on the assistance of the Levittown community, including the PTA, the Levittown Community Council and the Levittown Youth Council and we appreciate their support in many areas. Along with the board of education and administration, these groups work for the betterment of the community.

Our buildings and our staff are prepared and eager to get back to the business of educating our youngsters. By all indications, in the 2009/10 school year the district will continue to uphold our stated mission, Success for Every Student.
