On behalf of the Farmingdale Board of Education, administration, teachers and all of our staff, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome everyone back to school. We hope that you have enjoyed the summer and that you are ready for an exciting school year!
As we are in the “business” of learning, our focus remains on what we can do to improve student achievement and ensure success for all students. We are proud of everyone in our system and the progress we have made; however, each new school year’s success is predicated not on matching what we’ve done in the past, but how well we build on past accomplishments and continue to move upward! The biggest key to the overall success of our students and our district is in our ability to work in partnership with our parents and the community. We hope that you feel welcome in our schools and that you will take advantage of opportunities to become involved, to learn more about your school district and to be a part of the many things that are taking place.
The district has been hard at work all summer long preparing for the opening of school. The much anticipated synthetic turf field has been installed and the track has been resurfaced at Farmingdale High School. After research and planning, the traffic pattern at the High School has been altered and a new ADA compliant ramp has been added adjacent to the special education office. Paving projects are under way at Saltzman East Memorial, Woodward Parkway, Howitt and the High School providing important safety features for our students. Ceiling tiles and lights have been replaced in our secondary school kitchens, gym floors at Woodward Parkway have been refinished and Albany Avenue’s Heritage Hall has been retiled along with a number of classrooms around the district. All of our school cafeterias have installed the new Point of Sale Computer System that will give parents the ability to credit their children’s accounts online and receive information about what their children are buying in the cafeteria.
We continue to believe that a major strength in Farmingdale is our ability to work together to support student learning.
