American Music/Vintage Base Ball
Old Bethpage Village Restoration, Round Swamp Rd., Old Bethpage, will offer up 19th-century entertainment over the Labor Day weekend with period musical performances and dance as well as a series of “base ball” games. The “Olde Time Music Weekend” festival will take place on Sept. 5 and 6 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The musical events will be held at varying locations around the historic village, with fiddle music at the District No. 6 school and traditional music and dance (including reels and quadrilles) at the Noon Inn PicNic Grove. The OBVR Military Brass Sextet will perform each day at 2 and 3:15 p.m., while craftspeople demonstrate the art of decoy carving at the Conklin House, home of the local “bayman.” Traditional base ball matches will feature teams from the village’s 1884 league on Sept. 6, with players wearing the uniforms and equipment of the time. Golden Donor Blood Drive
Donors who have passed their 75th birthday can present a dated letter from a physician indicating it is safe to donate. This letter is valid for 12 months. American Sign Language Classes

Volunteers Needed
The Mill Neck Family of Organizations is seeking volunteers to work at food sales, children’s activities, apple booths and more during the Fall Harvest Festival to be held on Oct. 10 and 11. The outdoor festival, known as “Apple Sale,” features a wide variety of apples and seasonable produce, craft items, a Cheese House, deaf specialty items and much more. Volunteer support from local civic and church groups, students, alumni, staff, parents and faithful supporters, have made this a special and memorable event. Volunteers can work from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., 12:30 to 5 p.m. or all day. Food tickets will be provided for all volunteers who work four or more hours. This year, the Mill Neck Family will host a “Kick-Off Breakfast for Volunteers” on Oct. 3 from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Deaf Education Center. Open to all 2009 volunteers ages 16 and over, the event will feature a delicious continental breakfast, an orientation and a long-time volunteer recognition ceremony. Have a fond Fall Harvest Memory?
