Who’s Sick? The Patient or the System?
The League of Women Voters of East Nassau is presenting a timely and informative forum on Health Care in the U.S. The meeting will take place at 7:30 p.m. at the Plainview-Old Bethpage Library, 999 Old Country Rd., in the Community Room. The participants will be Mark Hannay, Metro New York Health Care for All Campaign, who will speak on “National Health Care – What’s Happening in Washington?”; Martha Livingston – Physicians For A National Health Program, addressing “Single Payer Health Care: What Are We Waiting For?”; Deborah Elliott – New York State Nurses Association, talking about “Advocating For Patients Through Reform”; Rachel Kreier – Assistant Professor of Economics, Hofstra University, discussing “U.S. Health Care Reform: Costs, Benefits, Winners, Losers.” All are welcome.

The healing circle encourages balance of body, mind and spirit. This is done through a natural energy healing and relaxation technique involving light touch. Mid-Island Chapter AAUW
Meeting at 1:30 p.m. at the Plainview-Old Bethpage Library, 999 Old Country Rd., Plainview. An exciting meeting is planned featuring Jack Schnur who will play audio-visual clips from his collection of the music of Rodgers and Hammerstein. Mr. Schnur will present music from such shows and films as Oklahoma, Carousel and South Pacific. Hear stars such as Mary Martin, Gordon MacRae and Ezio Pinza reprise their original roles in these classics. The public is invited to attend.
Italian Language Lessons
For children ages 4 to 18 plus adults beginner, intermediate and advanced held every Thursday at St. Brigid’s School, Maple Ave., Westbury. Classes (4 to 6 p.m.) will be held Sept. 24 to May 2010.
