Tribute to Cold War Veterans
At 11 a.m. at the American Airpower Museum at Republic Airport, 1230 New Hwy., Farmingdale, Cold War veterans from throughout the region are invited to stand with U.S. Congressman Steve Israel, History Channel’s Chief Historian Dr. Libby O’Connell and Stop & Shop Supermarkets as they pay public tribute to those who served during the Cold War.
Garage Sale/Bake Shop
To raise funds and awareness for Soldiers’Angels, a volunteer led non profit 501(c)(3) organization with over 1,200 volunteers in this area. Their mission is to aid and comfort to the men and women of the Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard and their families. 100 percent of the proceeds will benefit Soliders’ Angels. To benefit critically ill children and their families at Schneider Children’s Hospital. 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at White Post Farms, Melville. Admission $70 per person. Our Heroes Night Out Fundraiser for Homeless Veterans
From 3 to 7 p.m. Center Lane Pizza and MisMatch and YooHoo the clowns will be hosting a fund raiser at the Center Lane Pizza, Levittown. Twenty percent of the profits will go towards Our Heroes Night Out – a program that provides events for the homeless veterans. There will be lots of fun entertainment for the family. Face painting, balloons, cotton candy magic show and other fun surprises. Bring a food item and receive $1 off purchase. Food will go to a local food pantry. Black and White Conversion
The Photoshop manual states that there are over a dozen ways to convert a digital image to black and white and each monthly magazine seems to have an article about a new (and usually more complicated) way. This show tries to simplify black and white conversion by way of a slide show presentation followed by a live Photoshop demonstration. Dick Hunt will also touch on toning, spot toning, pseudo infra-red and explain why some of the latest CS tools and camera raw may not be the best thing for you to use. 8 to 10 p.m. at the Levittown Library, 1 Bluegrass Ln., Levittown.
