The GU11 Levittown X-Treme Soccer Team won second place over Columbus Day Weekend in the North Hempstead Cup Tournament at Tully Park. The girls won their first game against division rival Farmingdale 3-2 and tied their second game against Plainedge Old Bethpage 1-1 on Saturday.
On Sunday they played their first game against a team from Manhattan and won 5-0, which setup the final game to decide who would take first place. The fourth and final game was against a strong team from Smithtown who won their first three games and hadn’t let up a goal all weekend. The X-Treme team played with such intensity from the start of the game that they scored first while holding the Smithtown team scoreless in the first half. Smithtown came back half way through the perind period to tie the score 1-1. The last goal scored, that would determine the outcome, was a result of a penalty kick awarded by the referee and Smithtown won 2-1.
Parents, family and friends were all there to support the X-Treme Team and cheered on the strong performances of all the players. The girls had a great time and were proud to receive their second place medals.
