The Plainview Old-Bethpage School District welcomes a new assistant superintendent for curriculum to the 2009-10 school year. Jill M. Gierash, formerly of the Sachem Central School District, joins the district with 15 years of experience in the education field.
“I feel very fortunate to be joining such a well-respected school district and community,” stated Gierash. “Plainview-Old Bethpage has a strong educational staff and great values.”
Gierash joins the district with a proven track record of success. She has her Bachelor of Science in elementary education from Salisbury State University, her Masters in Science in reading education and a Professional Diploma in Administration and Supervision from Dowling College. Gierash also participated in the Harvard Graduate School of Education Summer Program. She is a member of a number of professional associations including the Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD), National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP) and International Reading Association (IRA).
