Salute to the American Fighting Soldier

At Old Bethpage Village Restoration, Round Swamp Rd., Old Bethpage, on Oct. 17 and 18 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event, which pays homage to American soldiers throughout the course of the nation’s history, will include a historical encampment dedicated to the American G.I.; demonstrations of the life and times of the common American soldier; and displays and camps spanning American military history. Among the troops represented are the 3rd New York (Revolutionary War); 119th New York Infantry and Jackson’s Flying Artillery (Civil War); 71st New York Infantry (Spanish-American War); and the U.S. 3rd Infantry and 101st Airborne (World War II). There will be re-enactors from the War of 1812, the Mexican-American War and WWI as well as active service personnel stationed on Long Island. Call 572-8400.

Orthopedics/Joint Replacement Surgery Education

Eugene Krauss, MD, will present a free education program and discussion about the future of orthopedics and joint replacement surgery at the Plainview-Old Bethpage Library, 999 Old Country Rd. Dr. Krauss will explain total knee and total hip procedures; who is a good candidate for surgery; what to look for in choosing a surgeon; and discuss the latest implants available. Seasons of Harmony Concert

Nancy Akron, Terry Putterman, Bobbi Foran, Jeanette Cottone, Pearl Mintzer, Judy DeMott and Sandy Sparber of Massapequa and Deena Garod of Seaford will be performing in “Seasons of Harmony.” The concert is presented by the Twin County Chorus, a chapter of Sweet Adelines, International, and is under the direction of Connie Kash. The concert presents songs for all seasons in a delightful show that includes comedy, warmth and beautiful music. Also on the bill are special guests, The Syosset High School Adelettes and the AfterGloWorms. The show will be presented one time only on Nov. 15 at 2 p.m. at the Farmingdale-Wantagh Jewish Center, 3710 Woodbine Ave., Wantagh.
