Bukicevic Jadranka Knows Oyster Bay
After we had gone to press on Monday, Oct. 19, we listened to our voice mail to hear that Joan Adami of Oyster Bay correctly identified the photograph in the Oct. 8 issue as, “The picture the little house on Church Street.” It was taken inside the Oyster Bay Community Center at the end of Church Street for an Oyster Bay Historical Society panel discussion of WWII. The Boy Scouts in the photo had just helped OBHS staff member Millicent Pittis in setting up chairs for the audience.
As for the Oct. 22 mystery picture: Billy Minicozzi guessed the window was near Taby’s and Town Hall.
Paige Dawson said, “It’s the car show night. The picture was taken from 10/20 Audrey Avenue, across from the mall building.
Bukicevic Jadranka said, “The location was the former Stevenson Academy and is now Active Motion. The car show was going on when the picture was taken.”
“It’s Audrey Avenue on a car night on Tuesday,” said Stuart Hornik of Syosset. He went to Cruise Night, the Oyster Bay Chamber of Commerce’s car show event held Tuesdays on Audrey Avenue, three or four times this year, he said.
An e-mail came in with the correct answer, too. “This week’s picture looks like it might be the view from inside the former Stevenson Academy. Am I right?” asked Rich Reynolds. The answer is, “Yes.”
The photo is of Rachel Meyer of Active Motion Physical Therapy, at 27 Audrey Avenue, looking down at Cruise Night. She has a perfect location for enjoying the weekly car show.
