The little Vikes played a strong game against the Steelers, led by some fantastic running from the “lil dynamo”, Zachary Leung, who had another long TD jaunt and a bevy of pivotal flag pulls. Gabriella Gomez and James Michels once again contributed solid two-way games while Joseph Marino hung tough against the strong Steeler “D.” The Wonder Twins were game-breakers: Gianna Morales plowed through the teeth of the tough Steeler D for a long TD run, breaking multiple attempted flag pulls along her way to paydirt, while Rebecca Morales racked up the tough, short yardage to set up a couple of Viking scores. Samantha Keating, Chloe Grant and Matthew Milianta also contributed to the Vikings’ strong effort.
The Giants are still undefeated. This past week Nicholas Tedesco (2 touchdowns) and Allison Kiernan (1 touchdown) led the team to an 18-6 victory. Jack Cavaioli had two interceptions that gave the Giants great field position. Spencer Kelly and Ryan Hajko led the Giant defense in holding the Patriots to one touchdown.
Girls Pee Wee 3-5
The Giants defeated the Browns 20-6. The game started with Samantha Hungerford making a huge run for the first touchdown. Emily Diaz was all over the place, grabbing 3 interceptions. Amanda Weber had some nice runs and scored the extra point. She also made many diving plays on defense. Hannah Komorowski was a great quarterback and also played great on defense. Finally, Erica Bauer had a great game, especially after losing a tooth at the start of the game!
Pee Wee-3
Defense ruled in the Steelers/Vikings game. The Steelers Jared Aleman got off on a nice run but the defense caught up and pulled his flag before he was able to score. The first points came courtesy of a long run by Brian Hayden. The Steelers’ defense was led by Matt Valero and Alex Hajko who kept the score tied at the half. In the second half, QB Alex Ventura connected over the middle to Brian Hayden that he took in for a TD. On the 2-point conversion, Brian threw a pass to Jared Aleman to close out the scoring. Matt Nocerino made a strong run that came up just short of the goal line and Jake Dominicci came up big on defense with an interception to stop the Vikings while Michael Molloy kept the pressure on the the passer all game long.
Pee Wee-4
The fourth grade Giants are on fire. James Tedesco, Anthony Tedesco, Thomas Marcotte (2), and Andrew Needham led the high-powered offense with touchdowns. Frank Bondietti and Joseph DeFlorio added the extra points. James Tedesco, Marc Conigliaro, and Robert Keane led the Giant defense in shutting down the Rams.
The “Steel Curtain” defense was spectacular again, stifling the Vikings offense. The Steeler “D” shut out the Vikings, thanks to the efforts of Liam McIntyre (one interception), Willie Wenzel, Billy Petersen, Kenny Amato, and Matthew Tolkach. The Steelers won 19-0, with long touchdown runs by Gio Maiorano, William Hund, and Greg Monteleone.
The fourth grade Jets won a nail bitter to beat the Chiefs 19-14. Greg Padaliano jump-started the offense with a big reception on the Jets’ first possession. Touchdowns were scored by Antonio “Junior” Smikle, Matthew Wicks and Anthony Speciale who ran the length of the field. Chris Ossenfort helped out with a key extra point reception, which was set up by a big gain by Kevin McMahon. Rusher Matthew Calderon put constant pressure on the quarterback. The defense was anchored by Joe Kosinski who was pulling flags all over the field shutting down the Chiefs offense.
Junior Varsity-5
The Vikings continued their strong play as they defeated a tough Steeler team 27-14. With injured player Russell Castle rooting from the sideline, QB Larry Lembo did a great job managing the game. Jordan McLune rang up 3 TDs, one of them on an interception return. Spencer Alger scored the other TD on a nifty run. The defense remained tenacious, headed by David Behavoric, Michael Thiem, Justin Barnes and Alex DeTurris.
The “Mighty Orange Crush Browns” played an awesome game against the very tough Patriots. It was a clash of two gunslingers Nick “Golden Arm” Cappellino for the Browns and Matt Ragno for the Patriots. Nick came out throwing to his favorite receivers Tyler Sullivan, who had a great reception and TD run, Matt McCarthy with great reception and TD run and a great hook up from Matt McCarthy to Nick Pantorno and Nick ran the ball the entire length of the field for a TD. On defense, the Orange Crush “Sack Unit” led by Michael Giovanniello, Andrew D’Abbraccio, Matt LaGois and Lucas Cecchetti kept pressure on the Patriot’s QB all day. Meanwhile, Michael Simmons racked big rushing yardage and the always dependable and valuable Trevor the “Trevornator” Clark had his usual great game on offense and defense. Game balls were presented to Nick Pantorno and Michael Giovanniello.
Varsity-9
Denis Donovan fired TD passes to Robert Bianco and Vincent Mavaro as the Jets held off the Chiefs. Billy Pickett was solid on defense and Brian Mazza put the game out of reach with a key safety late in the game.
