On Nov. 14 Lucia Montefusco, Jenn McLaughlin and Lindsey McLaughlin represented the best of Nassau County at the cross-country state meet that was held in Plattsburgh in upstate New York.
These three young ladies ran really well despite the downpour of rain and the difficult conditions of the 5K (3.1 mile) muddy course.
Senior and captain, Jen McLaughlin ran a personal best of 20:05.1 and placed 50th out of 108 runners.
Senior Lucia Montefusco who has been battling an ankle injury ran a season best of 20:11.9.
Finally, our outstanding sophomore, Lindsey McLaughlin ran a personal best of 20:30.2.
“Lindsey is our little shining star of the team,” says Coach Eric Bradley. “It has been a pleasure to coach these young ladies and I am going to miss our two dominating seniors Jenn and Lucia”. However, the team will be ready for next year’s challenge, with the return of several great runners and some new athletes. Lindsey McLaughlin, Kristina Coiro, Jessica Race, Courtney Livoti, Linden Kirk and Kelly Clifford are just some of the returning athletes who will make the team as successful as it has been in the previous years.
