The Joint Conference Committee of the four Property Owners’ Associations in the Village of Garden City are seeking candidates to serve on the Citizens’ Budget Review and Advisory Committee.
The purpose of the Budget Review and Advisory Committee is to assist and advise the POAs in connection with a review and analysis of the financial systems, procedures, operations and budget of the village. The Budget Review and Advisory Committee is advisory in nature and has no power or authority to bind the POAs or the village or to establish public policy for the village.
According to the Brian Daughney, president of the Estates POA and the JCC, “the goal of the JCC is to improve the budget review process and to provide an effective means of communication between village administrators, the Village Board of Trustees and the four property owners associations, through the JCC. The four POAs have now worked together to create a mission statement for the committee and hope that defining the role of the committee and its goals will help improve communication.”
The four POA groups are seeking volunteers to serve on the Budget Review and Advisory Committee, which has a two-year term. The committee is authorized to have eight members, consisting of two persons from each of the Western, Estates, Central and Eastern sections. It is expected that the committee members will meet periodically during the budget season and other times, and meet with the individual POA groups to discuss their advice and findings. The individuals seeking appointment should have a financial background, or familiarity with budget processes (governmental or private entity), accounting or other relevant experience.
Please provide a letter defining your interest with any relevant qualifications (i.e. professional background) that you wish to be considered.
Interested candidates should contact their POA directly as follows: those in the Eastern section should contact Walter McKenna at walter.mckenna@gce poa.org; those in the Central section should contact Pat DiMatia at dimattiared@aol.com; those in the Estates section should contact Brian Daughney at bdaughney61@optonline.net; and those in the Western section should discuss with Tom Pinou at Tom.Pinou@acbb-bits.com.
