Wrestling Generals Beat Wantagh Warriors 28-26

The MacArthur Generals wrestling team traveled a mile north on Wantagh Ave. on Friday, Dec. 18 to square off with cross-town rival Wantagh H.S.

The number one ranked and defending state champion Wantagh Warriors hosted a double dual that include Massapequa and Plainedge high schools as well as the Generals. The Generals used last year’s loss at home to Wantagh as motivation for this year and boy did it pay off.

The gritty Generals turned in an outstanding performance and defeated the Warriors by a score of 28-26. A focused General team was lead by seniors Tom Malinowski and Sal Carrillo who both had come from behind wins in the winding seconds of their matches to upset the “Warrior Nation.” Junior Chris Perez locked in the win with a major decision in the final match. Mike Palermo, Angelo Rello, and Joe Giametta turned in solid performances along with the rest of the General Army who all played a part in the exciting win.

The Generals also beat Plainedge during the second dual of the night by a score of 48-13. The Generals will be heading upstate to compete in the Union-Endicott Duals and the prestigious Eastern States Championships over the next coming weeks. Good luck Generals!
