Oyster Bay High School senior Kerri Apicella was selected by the ESPN 1050 Radio as the Melrose Credit Union MVP Scholar Athlete Program Honoree of the month for December. Kerri just came off a great season in the goal for the Oyster Bay High School Varsity Field Hockey team. Kerri helped lead the team to finish the season undefeated in league play.
The following was posted on the ESPN website along with a picture of Kerri:
“Softball, Field Hockey, Basketball, Track, Volleyball”
That’s right – 5 sports! Not surprisingly, that sort of drive has earned Kerri the captain’s role for two years, two team MVP awards, two All-County honors, and a Class C MVP award. When she is not dominating athletics, she conquers academics, sporting a 4.0 GPA and 104.3 weighted average, ranking her in the top 10 percent of her class. Kerri also stays very active in her community, heading the Interact Community Service Club and being a strong supporting member of Students Against Drunk Driving (SADD).
