Last weekend was wonderful, maybe especially because of the snow. The joint spaghetti dinner hosted by the Italian-American Citizens Club and the Oyster Bay Historical Society was a lovely event. People sat around chatting in the beautifully redecorated Italian-American clubhouse on Summit Street. They have done a wonderful job!
There is always something interesting to do in town, and we often just scratch the surface of the fun.
We do want to mention another ArtWalk is coming up this Thursday.
The new show at the Atelier at 9 East Main Street is titled Works on Paper. The opening reception is on Thursday, March 4 from 7 to 9 p.m. The timing coincides with the monthly ArtWalk in Oyster Bay.
Atelier owner Jerelyn Hanrahan added, “There will also be a huge colorful abstract panel installation by Swiss-born Oyster Bay resident artist Carole Freyse Guiterrez.”
Ms. Hanrahan added, “The gallery will be filled with drawings and prints installed with the color panels of Carole, and one free-standing eight-foot sculpture.”
At the Chase Edwards Fine Art Gallery, at 15 East Main Street, we found Michael Gudelaski, visiting art dealer, who talked about the upcoming show. He said the paintings are “Very well done works.”
On Thursday you can see a preview of the show “Landscapes for the New World.” It is a group show of six contemporary realistic landscape painters. The show itself starts on Saturday, with a reception for the artists. They include Joel Dugan, Jefferson Hayman, Donald Jurney, John Morra, Bennett Vadnais, and Rob Zeller, who you may know from the Teaching Studios of Oyster Bay.
So call up a friend and head out to Oyster Bay to enjoy the ambiance. Local restaurants are offering special discounts so just ask them. All in all – what could be better!
