Mystery Picture: March 12, 2010

Paige Dawson Knows Oyster Bay

Paige Dawson called to identify the March 4 mystery picture in the Enterprise Pilot. She said, “It looks like Bill DiConza standing outside of Wild Honey and I would almost think it was taken during the Holiday fund raiser for the Oyster Bay Chamber of Commerce. I’m not dead-certain, but it looks like that. And he is using a cell phone.” She is absolutely correct!

Billy Minicozzi guessed the location might be the Knights of Columbus building in Oyster Bay or the Village Church in Bayville – a good call since they are both brick buildings. On a sports note he said that spring training for baseball is starting soon.

And Looking Back

We have to apologize for not having all the answers for the mystery picture in the March 4 issue of the Enterprise Pilot. We were closed on Friday, Feb. 26 because of the snow and it was a very busy Monday and we didn’t listen to our voice mail. We received a call from Jillian Basha who guessed the mystery picture from Feb. 25 was Calf Farm Road, the home of her friend Danny Paradise.

Brendan Rainey said correctly, “It’s the Old Mill Farm.” It’s now called the Equestrian Center and is located on Route 106 opposite the Jericho Cider Mill.

On Feb. 25, Matt Meng of the East Norwich area called and said, “The mystery picture in Feb. 25 is of the former Nassau County Executive Tom Suozzi (in the background) riding a horse at the 41-acre Old Mill Farm protected by the Environmental Bond Act and it was a day of celebration.

“I was there representing the Long Island Drinking Water Coalition and stood next to him as he sat on the white horse Chester. It was an exciting day and the weather really held out for it,” he added correctly.

It’s fun to have photos identified in such detail. It reminds us too of the happy and momentous event.
