Bev Zembko Knows Oyster Bay
Bev Zembko called to identify the mystery picture in the March 11 issue of the Enterprise Pilot. She said, “It is the bench and garden at the entrance to the Education and Office Building of the First Presbyterian Church with Randy Daub seated on the bench probably taking a break from the Thanksgiving Food Drive.”
She added, “I saw him there when I was leaving the Oyster Bay Cooperative Preschool. The preschool took part in the Thanksgiving Food Drive. The preschoolers and their parents donated large baskets of food and also money for turkeys to the Food Drive.” The Thanksgiving food drive is the first phase of the Holiday Sharing Program of CSAC, a committee of the Interreligious and Human Needs Council and goes on to help with Christmas for those in need, including the annual toy drive.
FYI: In the photograph, Mr. Daub was enjoying a cigar, something he did many times with Joe Ferraro who retired from the committee last year.
Marge Delaney called to say she recognized her son-in-law Randy Daub sitting on the garden chair.
Billy Minicozzi guessed the location was at the Brookville Country Club or Sagamore Hill – both of which are possible. On a sports note, he commented that Tiger Woods is expected to be back on the golf circuit playing in the Masters Tournament in Augusta. “We miss him,” said Mr. Minicozzi. Billy added that running back LaDainian Tomlinson returned to the Jets as he signed a two-year contract with them.
Rich Mancini sent an e-mail with a good guess. He said, “I haven’t a clue who’s sitting on the bench but the location sure looks like Sagamore Hill.”
While we visited Sagamore Hill recently, we aren’t sure, but it is a good guess that they have a similar bench in the National Historic Park.
Thank you to all the callers. And thank you to all who didn’t call – but enjoyed guessing where the bench is located. It’s all in good fun!
