In celebration of the new Frederic R. & Margaret Coudert Clubhouse, the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, March 18.
Attending the event were Margaret Coudert and her daughter Sandra Coudert who is now an active member of the Kips Bay board.
While Kips Bay is located in The Bronx, the children who attend there are no strangers to Oyster Bay. Through the efforts of Fritz and Marge Coudert and their daughters Cynthia and Sandra the children have come to Oyster Bay on the final day of their summer camp to enjoy the friendly bay and the people of the community who came out to welcome them.
Frank M. Flowers & Sons, Inc.; the East Norwich Fire Department; the East Norwich Juniors; the Theodore Roosevelt Sanctuary staff; the Oyster Bay Cove Police; and members of local not-for-profits and community leaders and others came to meet the children.
Mr. Coudert also welcomed the Kips Bay kids to the WaterFront Center for another outdoor experience. He surely became a well-loved and respected figure to them all as he drove around in his “Fritz-mobile.”
To us too, in Oyster Bay, he will remain a well remembered citizen, who with his family, have left a warm mark on the community in so many ways.
Here’s a thank you to the Couderts and a warm congratulations to all the kids in The Bronx whose lives will be made better.

The new clubhouse is an exciting accomplishment for the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club and its partners, the New York City Housing Authority and New York City Department of Housing Preservation & Development. These organizations have been working on the development of this much needed addition to the West Bronx community for more than nine years. The partnership exemplifies how private and public organizations can come together to impact a community. The Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club will work to serve more than 2,500 children in the new clubhouse over the next several years.
All we can say is “Wow!”
Mr. Fritz used to say, “Jennifer Lopez went there.” We bet JayLo is saying, “Mr. Fritz was there for me.”
