Free Breast Cancer Support Groups
The Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer program in Garden City is offering new support groups. There is no cost for any group; however pre registration is required. The following groups are offered:
•Women with Breast Cancer: An evening group will meet weekly on Mondays for eight weeks from 7 to 8:30 p.m., tentatively beginning on April 5.
•Single Women: An evening group will meet weekly on Tuesdays for eight weeks from 7 to 8:30 p.m., tentatively beginning May 4.
•Women with Metastatic Breast Cancer: A daytime group will meet weekly on Tuesdays for eight weeks from 1:30 3 p.m., tentatively beginning on April 6.
•Women with Breast Cancer: A daytime group will meet weekly on Wednesdays for eight weeks from 10:30 a.m. to noon, tentatively beginning or April 14.

•After attracting the attention of national media last fall, What Killed Marcelo Lucero? is a play that tackles the thorny issues of immigration and hate on LI. After the performance, a panel of immigration advocates and experts will work with the audience to develop a deeper understanding of immigration issues. What Killed Marcelo Lucero? is the innovative brainchild of the Brentwood-based experimental theater group Teatro Yerbabruja. An important part of the play – which explores the breadth of anti-Latino sentiment on LI, and its costs to Latinos and the community as a whole – is audience participation. After each performance, those in attendance are invited to discuss alternative strategies for addressing immigration tensions in their communities. The play is based on the November 2008 murder of Ecuadorian immigrant Marcelo Lucero in Patchogue. April 9.
