Ridgewood Savings Bank Mariners (10) vs.Costello’s Ace Hardware Reds (4)

It was pitching debut night for the mighty Mariners with Jimmy Denara, James Castaldi and Jacob Leeds all taking the mound for the first time of the season.  Jimmy struck out one batter and helped his cause by making a diving catch of a pop-up.  James also stuck out a batter and snatched a hot grounder back to the mound to make an out.  Jacob also notched a strikeout and helped with his bat in the sixth inning by lacing a single to drive in two runs.  Joe Dunn pitched a scoreless inning, striking out two, and his battery mate, Michael Zuschlag poked a single to drive in a run in the fourth.  The bulk of the scoring came in the later innings when Dominick Piccirillo and Alex Bracco both smashed doubles to drive in two runs each, Danny Kosofsky laced a single to drive in a run, and John Denara, Bradley Sheen and Charlie Hwang all delivered timely hits.  Solid defense in the field was provided by Harman Takhar and Gregory Capelle.

Merillon Notre Dame CYO Lightning vs. Douglaston

On another evening of decidedly “unsoftball” like frigid weather, the Lightning met a tough Douglaston team. Starting pitcher Jessica Vissichelli sent some heat down the middle of the plate striking out the first three batters, she went on to pitch 2 solid innings. Casey Sanders, in her pitching debut and Sophia Leeds in relief did a fine job under very tough conditions and fielded their positions well.  Lightning struck at the plate with our big hitters Casey S. 3H (1double) 4RBI, Mariella Facibene 2H, 2RBI, Jessica V. 2H (1double) 3RBI.  Monique Vavro and Kelsey Nathan, also tallied a hit a piece.  Natalie Patrey, Gia Maniaci, Jenna Marshiano, Rachel Moss, Kasey Borduas and Sophia L., all reached base via walks, and took that opportunity to steal bases and score runs. 

Baxter’s Sport Shop Rangers vs Gigi’s Pizza Marlins

The Rangers showed a great deal of teamwork in winning another tough game against a young and up-and-coming Marlins team.  Stephen Guy, Spencer Kern and Aaron Newman made the offense go with solid extra base hits that drove in runs.  Alex Russo, PJ Vayias and Raymond Gresalfi handled the pitching and kept the Marlins off balance at the plate.

Gigi’s Pizza Marlins vs. Baxter’s Sports Shop Rangers

 The Marlins played another exciting game at Tully Thursday night.  Joe Santos continued his fine play at the catcher position, and Matthew Baronci also shined behind the plate, holding his ground on a close tag play in the fourth inning.  The Marlins got strong pitching performances from Kenny Gensch and Elliot Weissman (two strikeouts each) and Sean O’Connor (three Ks).  Dylan Kareff added a solid inning on the mound and a line drive single.  Other offensive standouts included Paul Fadoul with a key base hit, Ivan Vidaich, and David Klebanow, who made a run-scoring double in the third.  The defensive gem was turned in by Chris Bruccoleri, who snagged a tough-hop grounder and took it unassisted to first base.  Eric Madenberg also completed a heads-up unassisted double play at first.  And Jake Blancher covered second base for an important force out in the third inning.

Piccolo Italian Gourmet Diamondbacks vs. City Line Florist Angels

 The Piccolo Italian Gourmet Diamondbacks played a great game down at the yard this week.  The sticks came alive for the team this week with both bloops and blasts. This weeks slugging awards go to P. Carecca , H. Dewitt, J. Tamara and M. Colluccio. Our five o’clock thunder awards go to N. Lopez and CJ Riccobono for seven RBI’s between them. Our Golden Arms Awards go to N. Levkulic, P. Carecca,L. Tesoriero and N. Lopez. The Gold Glove Awards  N. Lopez , P. Carecca and CJ Riccobono. The Gamer Awards go to P. Mctiernan and D. Coval,

Knights of Columbus NHP 2858 Dodgers  vs.

Virgilio Chiropractic and Wellness Center

 The Dodgers were anxious to play after their Sunday rainout and the offense did not show any rust as it powered the Dodgers throughout the game. The RBI awards go to:  Eli Goodwin and Robert Martini with 3 each, Mathew Merolla, Vincenzo Montoni, Guiseppe Seidita, Nicholas Marsella, with 2 each, and Paul Depaulis, Justin Yang, Michael Campagnuolo, Steven Bracco, with one each. The Hustle awards go to Ben Goodwin, and Justin Marsella as their heads up base-running assisted in the Dodgers run production. The Dodgers cannot wait until next time as they are crazy about Merillon baseball.

Virgilio Chiropractic/Wellness Center Burn vs Albertson Herricks #2

Lauren Wasserman and Daniella Connor led the BURN with 2 doubles. Dani Drucker, Melanie Feinsilver, Samantha Grenard, Haylie Lempert & Cece Schnall all collected 2 hits a piece. There was some nice fielding plays led by Paulina Valentine snagging a line drive out at 3rd base. Also make nice plays in the field were Lauren Valencia, Sarah Belmonte, Rachel Schneider, Gabby Mackay & Elina Malamed. Kaitlin Stoyer did a fine job catching behind the plate. These girls are off to a great start of the softball season, cheering each other on and playing as a team.

The All County Business Solutions Blue Angels vs

The Albertson Herricks 2 Farm Team

 The Blue Angels were looking to impress their fans tonight at Manor Oaks field.  With 27 hits, the All County Business team kept the fans on their feet and were led by a hard double to Centerfield and 3 hits by Amanda Garcia.  Joanna Vissichelli, Michela Giura, Gabby Henderson, Daniella Brancato, and Gabrielle Ranieri each collected 3 hits.  The hit parade was rounded out by Caitlin Young, Katie Fitzgerald, Theresa Patrey and Olivia Franzone with 2 hits apiece. Lauren Wong singled in her only time at bat.  Several of the Angels made heads up plays throwing out the lead runner going to third and darting to the ground ball and covering their base.  The All County Blue Angels and Albertson Herricks team put on a tremendous game for their adoring fans.

Grant Thornton Brewers vs. the Sportography Cardinals

Kevin Walsh did well in his pitching debut for the Brewers.  Matthew Shen made a spectacular catch of a screaming line drive while playing first. Dillon Hod made some nice stops at second base.  Daniel Mattei and Jeremy Feng did a fine job catching for the Brewers.  Nicholas Rakamric reached base safely three times for the Brewers.  All the Brewer players provided a great effort in a tough game.

New Hyde Park Elks Athletics vs Knights of Columbus Dodgers

 The Dodgers offensive machine was fully charged this beautiful Sunday morning. The Hitting awards go to Cenzo Montoni, Matthew Merolla, and Justin Yang as they each hit long doubles in the gaps. The RBI awards go to Steven Bracco, Nicholas Marsella, Guiseppe Seidita, Paul Depaulis, Eli Goodwin, Ben Goodwin, Christian Zammora and Michael Campagnoulo. The fundamentals of baseball award goes to Justin Marsella who continues to show off his hustle and knowledge of baseball. The team is united and hopes to continue their winning streak next game.

Notre Dame CYO Nationals vs. Gair, Gair Conason, et al. Braves

It was a great game by both teams.  Offensive stars for the Braves were Ryan Wasserman with 5 hits and 4 runs scored, Christopher Gould, Kenny Hirschfeld, Aaron Canese, Stephen DeRocchis, Adrian Balkcom & Luke Notine with 4 hits each.  Gold glove award of the game goes to Philip Schurr who turned an unassisted triple play.  All the other boys contributed to a great team effort.

Chico’s B.B. Cubs vs.Virgilio Chiropractic and Wellness Center Padres

The Cubs came out swinging with a four hit game by Benjamin Bidner, Daniel McClellan, and Johnny Vlantis. Other offensive standouts included Mark Baronci, Jimmy Weedon, and Charlie Linden, with three hits each.  The defense was solid as well with Brendan Cooper making two put outs at second base, and Joseph Leonard doing the same behind the plate. Other gold glove fielders included Vincent Zaino, Ryan Gaudio, Jack Kiley, and Jack Nathan.

City Line Florist Angels vs. Baxter’s Sport Shop Rangers

Another great game was played by The City Line Florist Angels against the Baxter’s Sport Shop Rangers.  Christian Ugolini, Sean McClellan and Tyler Witt continued with their great pitching performances. The Angels offensive was provided with big hits by Shawn Chacko, Justin Kuzler and Stevie Farishian.  Sam Ugolini,  Mike Carroll,  Frankie Stigliano and Jake Glueck played great defense for the angels in the field.  Robbie Booth continued  his great catching behind the plate by throwing out a Ranger player at second base.

Sportography Cardinals vs. Grant Thornton, LLP Brewers

 Despite a long parade and the hot weather, the mighty Cardinals once again displayed power pitching and an offensive surge against a very good Brewers team this afternoon at the Merillon Complex.  Pitching ace John Napolitano was once again dominant on the mound with 4 strikeouts over 2 scoreless innings and also drove in 5 runs on a single and his second grand slam home run of the season.  Matthew Rivera and Christopher Carbone followed with impressive pitching performances of their own, each hurling a scoreless inning with 3 strikeouts while combining offensively for 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored.  Making his season debut on the hill, Scott Schanter closed out the game with a solid inning of his own and contributed offensively with a single, an RBI and a run scored.  The offensive star of the game for the Cardinals was AJ DeVito who not only contributed with a single, a triple, 3 RBIs and a run scored but continues to hone his craft in the infield as he cleanly fielded a hard hit ground ball to second base.  Philip Chang and Joseph Dampman also added to the offense with 2 singles each and a combined 2 RBIs and 5 runs scored while Tyler Dauble did another great job behind the plate at catcher despite playing with a sprained finger on his throwing hand.  Matthew Notine, Spencer Horowitz, and Richard Song combined for 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored while each flashed the leather in the field

Salmon Limousine Services Rays 13 vs Ridgewood Savings Bank Mariners 7

The Rays continued their winnings ways with an impressive 13-7 win over the magnificent Mariners.  The offense clicked on all cylinders, with only a single strikeout over the entire game.  The power was supplied by Michael Telsey (triple and HR) and Jack Tucker (2nd mammoth HR of the season), with Jared Schwartz, Jacob Seidenberg, Andrew Kadish, Joey “Go for 2” Jacobs, Ryan Hodes, Brian Volk, Jacob Leventhal, Jared Hodes and Karan Thadhani also getting into the hit parade.  The strong defense was highlighted by a crucial double play turned by Joey Jacobs and Karan Thadhani, squashing a potential rally.  On the mound, the Rays were led by the “J. Crew” staff of Jacob Seidenberg, Joey Jacobs, Jacob Leventhal and Jared Schwartz.
