Ribbon Cutting for Herricks High School New Track
The ribbon cutting for the new Herricks High School track will be held at 9 a.m. This will kick-off the Herricks Spring Sports Festival which will be held throughout the day on the high school fields as various events take place along with a barbecue.
Lutheran Church of Our Saviour Spring Fair
Come one, come all, to our Spring Fair. We have something for everyone. Our food café will be open for a continental breakfast and for lunch. There will be Mothers’ Day gifts a plenty from our vendors along with plants, home baked goods, children’s items and crafts, used books, art, music and treasure trove items. Red Cross Walk For Local Disaster Relief
The Nassau County Red Cross will hold a Disaster Relief Walk at Eisenhower Park, Field 6-A. Check-in at 9 a.m. Walk begins at 11 a.m. Fee $20. Race open to ages 12 and over. $10 for ages 12 and under. All walkers will receive an event T-Shirt and refreshments. Giant Trash and Treasure Sale
The Community Church of East Williston, corner of East Williston Avenue and Roslyn Road will hold a trash and treasure sale including baked goods and Mother’s Day flowers for for sale.
Come Build Piñtas at LICM
On May 8 at 3 p.m. come and meet the artists from Centro Cultural Hispano (CCH, the Hispanic Cultural Center) that created the colorful piñatas on display in our Community Gallery. Explore this traditional art form as you learn about the building process and design your very own piñata for your next fiesta! Age: 5 and up. Fee: $3 with museum admission ($2 LICM members). Plus come to the community gallery for a Piñta Display from May 7 to May 31. A chance to enjoy beautiful handmade piñata on display throughout the month of May in the LICM Community Gallery. These piñatas were also created by members of the Centro Cultural Hispano (CCH, the Hispanic Cultural Center) All ages. Free with museum admission. All activities will be held at the Long Island Children’s Museum, 11 Davis Avenue, Garden City, NY. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Laughter Yoga Has Erupted In New Hyde Park
At “Spinner’s Grinners” Laughter Yoga Club, members take part in a series of laughter, breathing and playfulness exercises with many, many health benefits. You don’t have to be happy, you don’t have to be funny, you don’t even need a sense of humor! Everyone can do this! No joke! We will not be laying on the floor and no knowledge of yoga is necessary. Broke, with a café bill to pay, Lee Perrotta, an art student traveling through the south of France, offered to wash dishes. Her kitchen duty not only paid for her meal, but she soon had a regular job – and an idea what she wanted to do with her life. After a few delays and sidetracks, Perrotta is now doing what she’s wanted to do since being trained as a chef in that café 25 years ago. She’s married her two passions, art & chocolate, into RR Chocolate, a startup run out of her Bellmore home.
