Head Wrestling Coach Jay Davis is the recipient of the 2009-2010 Nassau County Wrestling Coaches Association “League IVB Coach of the Year Award”. Coach Davis was Coach of the Year in 2008 for Wrestling and he was again acknowledged as Coach of the Year in 2009 for taking the OBHS Baseball Team to the New York State Final Four.
This past year, Coach Davis’s team won its seventh Team Championship in the ten year history of the wrestling program. Coach Davis has coached one New York State place winner, 15 Nassau County Champions, 33 Nassau County place winners and 43 All-Conference wrestlers.
Assistant Wrestling Coach Doug Axman was also honored by receiving the Nassau County Wrestling Coaches Association “Assistant Coach of the Year Award”. Coach Axman has been the Varsity Assistant Coach for the past two years. During that time he has helped the Baymen achieve two team championships.
Often a student’s coach plays an important role in shaping the character of a teenager. Oyster Bay is proud and fortunate to have coaches of the caliber of Coach Davis and Coach Axman involved in the lives of young athletes at Oyster Bay High School.
