(This letter is in response to an article in the May 7, 2010 issue of the Observer, entitled “Friends and Family of Kaitlyn Krokowski Fight to Keep Her Memorial.”)
I extend my sympathy to the friends and family of Kaitlyn who died so young over a year ago. In my opinion, a pole is not a memorial, with faded flowers, pictures and toy animals that are weathered. Perhaps it would be in better taste (if it is possible) to have several planters with real flowering plants that can be changed according to the season. I find the pole memorial a distraction and offensive. It does not make a pleasant sight for our otherwise nice-looking Main Street.
What a wonderful honor to have an engraved bench in our village green where family and friends can sit, meditate and grieve for Kaitlyn.
I agree there is no time limit for grieving. I again offer my sincere condolences to the family and friends of Kaitlyn.
