The Dragons came out on fire and never looked back. My star of the game was Silvana Seidita who was 1-1, two walks and 2RBI’s. An outstanding game, and keep up the good work. Nicole K., Madison S., Una R., and Michaela Z. were great getting on base 14-14 times to keep the runs coming in. Gina P., Brittany L., Cassidy L., contributed to the team as well. I would like to thank Paulina and Lauren for coming to the game on short notice to help us out and they did so by going 5-5 combined and a walk. Great job girls!! The team is starting to jell and I am looking forward to the rest of the season and the playoffs. “LET’S GO DRAGONS”
Gigi’s Pizza Marlins vs. Grant Thornton LLP Brewers
All the Marlins contributed to a hard-fought victory against the Brewers on Tuesday. Matthew Baronci was on base twice, stole a base, and played two strong innings at catcher. Joe Santos was also solid behind the plate and added a base hit and RBI. Jake Blancher drove in a pair with a second inning single. Chris Bruccoleri caught a pop fly at second, recorded a nice putout at catcher, and singled to score a run. Paul Fadoul was on base all three times and slid in with the last run in the pivotal fifth inning. Kenny Gensch contributed with strong defense at first and third base. Charlie Goodwin had a base hit and three RBI and struck out the side while pitching the bottom of the fifth. Dylan Kareff also had a key hit and made two great plays while pitching a scoreless inning. David Klebanow klubbed a triple to deep left off the Brewers ace and impressed during his inning on the mound. Eric Madenberg had his fastball and changeup working in a scoreless second inning and was on base all three times with three steals. Sean O’Connor added a hit, two walks and an RBI. Elliot Weissman also had a key hit and RBI and alertly threw out a runner at home while pitching the third inning. Ivan Vidaich caught a long fly ball in left field and added a clutch sixth inning run-scoring line drive up the middle. Great game Marlins!

Mariners (6) vs Mike’s Convenience Store Orioles (9)
The mighty Mariners took an early lead in this one, but couldn’t hold on, despite solid pitching by Dominick Piccirillo, Danny Kosofsky and Joe Dunn. Defensive gems were turned in by Alex Bracco, who snagged a hot grounder at third and fired to first to preserve the lead in the second inning, and catcher Joe Dunn who fired a bullet to catch a runner trying to steal second. Michael Zuschlag (2 for 3), Jimmy Denara (single) and James Castaldi (single) led the hitting, while John Denara, Jacob Leeds, Gregory Capelle and Harman Takhar played solid defense to keep the game close.
Salmon Limousine Services Rays 18, BAB Mechanical Astros 9
The run parade rolled on for the Rays in their 18-9 victory over the awesome Astros. Once again it was a total team effort, starting with the excellent pitching of Jordan Greiff (2 scoreless innings), Karan “K-Man” Thadhani (in his season debut on the mound), Jacob “Joba” Leventhal and Matt O’Connor (1+ scoreless innings). At the plate, the Rays were led by the powerful bat of Michael Telsey (multiple extra-base hits, including a bases-clearing double), Ryan Hodes (2-run triple) and Jacob Leventhal. Keeping the Astros at bay were the web gems turned in by Brian Volk (snaring an absolute bullet by their leadoff batter starting the game), Jacob Seidenberg (yeoman’s performance behind the plate), Jared Schwartz (solid at multiple positions), Jack Tucker, Joey Jacobs and Jared Hodes.

The Piccolo Italian Gourmet Diamondbacks team played a strong offensive and defensive game down at the yard this week. Grant Thornton Brewers vs. the Gigi’s Pizza Marlins
The Brewers offense was led by Sean O’Leary and Chris Kerrane who each had three singles during this game. Additional hits by Philip Menist, Alessandro Lacera, Ryan Cloonan and Dillon Hod added to the run count. Daniel Mattei hit a powerful double that resulted in an additional RBI. Strong pitching by Philip Menist, Alessandro Lacera, Michael Kurre, Chris Kerrane and Jordan Seidenberg led the defense. Kevin Walsh and Nicholas Rakamaric also did a great job playing third base and scoring a run.
Grant Thornton Brewers vs. City Line Florist Angels
Philip Menist lead the defense with two innings of shut out baseball for the Grant Thornton Brewers. Jordan Seidenberg also pitched one inning of shut out ball and only gave up one run in the second inning he pitched against the City Line Florist Angels. Strong pitching by Sean O’Leary and Ryan Cloonan rounded out the pitching. The offense was led by Philip Menist, Jordan Seidenberg, Chris Kerrane and Ryan Cloonan who each hit a single. Walks earned by Michael Kurre, Daniel Mattei and Alessandro Lacera added to the scoring. Kevin Walsh and Nicholas Rakamaric did a great job in the field which helped support the team’s defense.

vs. Notre Dame CYO Nationals
The Dodgers and the Nationals treated the many fans on hand to an exciting back and forth game of baseball. There was no shortage of big hits and great plays in the field. Justin Marsella displayed his signature hustle and heads up play from the leadoff spot- getting on base and setting the table for the big-boppers, Robbie Martini (2 RBIs), Justin Yang (one RBI), Cenzo Montoni (one RBI) and Matt Merolla (2 RBIs) hitting behind Justin. Giuseppe Seidita, who showed his skills behind the plate as a catcher in the early going this season had a big day at the plate with the bat, adding two runs batted in. Steven Bracco, Eli Goodwin, Christian Zamora, Mike Campagnuolo, Ben Goodwin, and Nick Marsella joined the RBI party with one a piece. The Dodgers are hitting their stride and look forward to building on an excellent start to the season.

New Hyde Park Elks Athletics
The Dodgers and the Athletics faced off for the second time in the early going this season. In the first inning, the Dodgers were flashing some serious leather- getting three quick outs, highlighted by Justin Yang’s beautiful catch of a screaming line drive off of one of the Athletic’s bats. Justin also snagged a more routine popup to the picher’s mound for the third out of the inning. In between those two plays, Cenzo Montoni showed his command of defensive fundamentals, getting his body in front of hot shot, recovering to scoop up the ball and stepping on second for an out. Matt Merolla made his Dodgers debut behind the plate and he did not disappoint, showing he knows how to catch the ball and help his team defensively. On offense, the Dodgers received contributions from the brother tandem of Ben and Eli Goodwin, Nick Marsella, Giuseppe Seidita, and Mike Campagnuolo. Stephen Bracco, Christian Zamora, Justin Marsella, and Robbie Martini each had a good day at the plate, with one RBI each. Until next time… Go Dodgers!

It was a great game by both teams. Offensive stars for the Braves were Adrian Balkcom with 5 hits and 4 runs scored, Stephen DeRocchis, Ryan Wasserman, Sam Motelson & Andrew Wang had 4 hits each. Kenny Hirschfeld contributed with 3 hits. Evan Kreth & Matthew Farkas both made great plays at second base. All the other boys contributed to a great team effort.

This game was all about pitching. Peter Tagios, Louis Plomitallo and Michael Varrone held the Ducks scoreless with help from their battery mates RJ Donohue and Michael Lopez. Timely hitting by Landon Phillips, Christian Carrick, Michael Varrone and Peter Tagios in the early innings were all the runs the Bears needed. Nice defensive plays in the field by Anthony Lanzilotta and Nevin Nambiar. Go Bears!
Ridgewood Savings Bank Mariners (15) vs BAB Mechanical Astros (9)
The Mariners snapped a two-game losing streak by pounding out 14 hits, highlighted by Dominick Piccirillo’s long triple and single, Alex Bracco’s two booming doubles, Danny Kosofsky’s two singles and Gregory Capelle’s two singles. Joe Dunn and James Castaldi both smashed monstrous doubles and Jimmy Denara, Jacob Leeds, John Denara and Bradley Sheen each smacked singles. Charlie Hwang and Harman Takhur were solid in the field and catcher Mike Zuschlag made a nice play by scrambling after an errant pitch and pouncing on an Astros runner trying to steal home.
Sportography Cardinals Vs. Piccolo Italian Gourmet Diamondbacks
In what proved to be a true gem of a Little League game, the mighty Cardinals displayed power pitching, patience at the plate and solid defense against a relentless Diamondbacks team at the Herricks Ball Field this evening. Pitching ace John Napolitano was once again dominant on the mound with 4 strikeouts over 2 innings while holding an impressive lineup to only one run – he also contributed offensively with a single, double, 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored. Christopher Carbone followed on the hill with a solid inning of his own while Matthew Rivera delivered another impressive pitching performance with 3 strikeouts over one scoreless inning and also contributed offensively with a single, an RBI, 2 stolen bases and 2 runs scored. Joseph Dampman closed out the game with a solid inning of his own and also added to the offense with a single, 2 RBIs and a run scored. Scott Schanter once again displayed his improving defensive skills behind the plate as catcher on two very close plays at home while also contributing offensively with a single, an RBI and a stolen base. AJ DeVito continues to swing a hot bat and contributed with an RBI single in the bottom of the 1st inning. Tyler Dauble not only continues to develop into a solid defensive catcher but displayed impressive speed with 2 stolen bases in the top of the 5th inning. Speed around the infield was definitely contagious as Richard Song, Aditya Jindal and Anthony Treadwell scorched the base path and combined for 3 stolen bases and 3 runs scored while Matthew Notine and Spencer Horowitz each flashed the leather in the field. Salmon Limousine Services Rays 11 vs Costello’s Ace Hardware Reds 10
In a thrilling game on a cold and blustery Mother’s Day, the Rays outlasted the remarkable Reds 11-10. The game was in doubt the entire game, and the Rays had to overcome a 7-2 deficit after 2 1/2 innings to gain the win. The Rays chipped away at the lead in the 3rd and 4th innings, thanks in no small part to the hitting of Michael “Mr. Triple” Telsey, Jordan Greiff, Matt O’Connor, Brian Volk and Jacob Seidenberg. Pitching was crucial in the game, with the staff of Jordan Greiff, Michael Telsey, Joey Jacobs and Jacob Seidenberg keeping the Rays in the game all afternoon. Pitching performance of the season goes to Jacob Seidenberg, who entered the game during the 4th inning with no outs and the bases loaded, with the Rays losing 8-5, and slammed the door in the inning without allowing a run to score. He then went the rest of the way and earned the win. Defense was also a key to the win, and the play of the game goes to Matt O’Connor (1B) and Brian Volk (C) who combined on a huge 3-2 double play in the 6th inning with the Rays clinging to an 11-10 lead. Other defensive stalwarts were Jack Tucker, Jacob Leventhal and Karan Thadhani. Special thanks to emergency call-up, and future superstar, Jordan Seidenberg.
