We just wanted to let you know that the St. Rocco Festival is coming back to Oyster Bay, and it is back in the hands of the people who originally started the feast.
Barry Ranaldo, president of the Italian-American Club, said this year it will open on Wednesday, July 28 and will continue through to Sunday, Aug. 1. It was originally run by the Italian-American Benevolent Society.
If you go down to Firemen’s Field and look up at the telephone poles, you will see the iron decorations that held lights for the festival. It is a wonderful reminder of Old Oyster Bay.
Save the date. We can’t wait to sit in their café and have Italian pastries. Wonderful, wonderful.
