GIRLS DIVISION U-10

Soccer Shooters vs. Wonder Cats

On a very hot & humid June Sunday, the Soccer Stars played a very exciting game vs. The Wonder Cats. Both teams demonstrating great Soccer skills. In goal throughout the game was Irene Krische who made tremendous saves off the Wonder Cats while communicating to her defense that she has possession of the ball. Excellent defense played by Marcela Curcio, Rhiannon Chieffo & Joanna Mauceri making a great header off of a throw-in from the Wonder Cats. Great Head Ball Joanna!! Defense anchored by the strong mid-field plays of Sabrina Rodrigues, Orna Kidanian & Daniela O’Modie getting in front of the ball & kicking long passes to their offense. A scoreless first half led to an early goal by the Wonder Cats, however the Soccer Shooters pressed down the field & with a skillful pass from Madeline Slaski to Marina Pappas she shoots a great high ball to the corner of the upper left post to tie up the match with minutes left on the clock. Great Teamwork Soccer Shooters!! Congrats to both teams! Thank You to All our Family & Friends for cheering All the players on!! Thank You to All the great Referees for a job very well Done!! Missed the help of Alexandra Gootman, Gabriella Caicedo & Aria Nair.

BOYS DIVISION

NHP Wildcats Boys U8 Championship Game

The final game of U8 boys soccer season turned out as wonderful as the season itself. It was only fitting that the championship game matched 2 teams – Typhoon and Hurricanes – who had already played 2 ties in previous matchups this season. Despite the humid conditions, all the boys were as aggressive getting to their water bottles as they were chasing loose balls. The game’s overall quality was reflected in the 1-1 score with 3 minutes left. A solid all around game by Adidin Dauti led the charge for the whirling Typhoon. He started the scoring with a booming direct kick in the first half. He then played solid goalkeeper in the second half stopping, a direct kick from the other team that keep the game tied at 1. Luke Lelay played hungry and scored the go ahead goal with 3 minutes to play, a well deserved goal after all his hard play. Michael Matrinucci played tough all day helping to keep constant pressure on the other team and scored the insurance goal with 30 seconds to left to play. Kenny Gensch played smart aggressive defense and mid field all day, stifling many opposing players and opportunities. Matthew Rivera kept the opposing defense on its heals all day with his quickness, creating many scoring opportunities for his teammates. His defense in the second half was a key to keeping the game tied late into the game. Brandon Sunga was chasing down opportunistic Hurricanes all day and kept himself in position to knock down potential break away passes and keep the ball in the Typhoon offensive zone. Chris Matrinucci played all positions well all day, and his solid play as mid fielder keep the offense moving forward and the defense strong. Aaron Kalani played solid goal in the first half and his second half defense stopped any would be attackers from penetrating towards the goal. Shuhb Savani was tireless on a hot day constantly turning aggressive mid fielders away before they could control the ball. Chrsi Issac was around the ball all day, played great defense and showed a tremendous amount of team awareness with his mates. Tamer Elkosh demonstrated aggressiveness with his many take-aways from would be ball handlers and showed everyone all how enjoyable this game is with a constant smile throughout. Aaron Zacharia who played wonderfully all season was ill on this final day – we missed you Aaron. A well deserved 3-1 win for the undefeated Typhoon. Congratulations to all the boys they deserve it.
