As has been the tradition for the last few years, New Hyde Park Memorial High School has been holding its graduation ceremonies at the Mack Center at Hofstra University.
The graduates and their families were very happy, especially this year, due to the sweltering hot temperatures hovering around 90 degrees, that they were in an air-conditioned facility.
The grads were all very excited as they gathered both outside and in the holding room prior to graduation.
The ceremony was very meaningful with words of wisdom by the Class President Jordan Buff, followed by the head of the Student Council President Michael Rezin and then Valedictorian Kelly Ann Smolensi.
This year the class voted as their guest speaker the superintendent of the Sewanhaka Central High School Warren Meierdiercks who gave one of the most thought provoking speeches of the day.
The ceremony ended with the traditional throwing of the hats in the air as the students filed out of the Mack Center at the end of another well-organized New Hyde Park Memorial High School graduation.
