Sons of Italy Sponsors Amante Concert

In what has become an annual tradition in Farmingdale, the Sons of Italy-Columbus Lodge #2143 announce they have sponsored, in conjunction with the Town of Oyster Bay, a free “Music Under the Stars” concert for local residents.  Columbus Lodge President Anthony Ventiera announced that this year’s concert would feature Italian Opera Tenor Michael Amante.  The concert is set for Monday, July 12 at Ellsworth W. Allen Town Park at 8 p.m.  Arrive early and bring your lawn chairs.

Affectionately known as the “People’s Tenor”, the NY State born and raised Michael Amante has the remarkable ability to reach and sustain high Cs; which is one of the highest notes of a tenor’s voice. When going to an Amante performance, one can expect arias from LaBoheme, Tosca, and Rigoletto. Also, he’ll most likely sing Broadway classics “Maria” from West Side Story and If I Can’t Love Here from Beauty and the Beast.

Expected to join Amante is comedian Uncle Floyd Vivino, who is making a return to Farmingdale.  Floyd is primarily known for his influential comedy/television variety program The Uncle Floyd Show, which ran for more than 4,000 original episodes from 1974-78.   A seasoned comedian and gifted piano player, Floyd has been entertaining audiences for more than 40 years.

“The Columbus Lodge is about people,” said Ed Bochynski, 2nd vice president of Columbus Lodge. “We donate to local charities, we give scholarships to local graduating high school students, and we sponsor a “Music Under the Stars” night for the enjoyment of our community.”

Membership Chairman Gary Caparco will be at the membership table before the concert.  All are encouraged to see Gary or contact him at (516) 799-2613.
