Sabrina Layne – Valedictorian
Sabrina Layne finished first in her class to become the Valedictorian for the Oyster Bay High School graduating class of 2010. Sabrina plans on heading west in September to attend Stanford University outside of San Francisco. Sabrina will study Human Biology and Global Health. Sabrina hopes to play intramural tennis while there. During her years at Oyster Bay High School Sabrina Layne played on a soccer travel team and was a member of the varsity tennis team. Just last fall, she and her sister, Rebecca, earned All-County honors.
Sabrina was vice president of the OBHS chapter of the National Honor Society. She served as President of the Tri-M Music Honor Society and secretary of the Science Honor Society. Last summer, Sabrina was selected to participate in the Partners for the Future program at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory. She was one of six high school students selected. Sabrina worked at the lab throughout the school year and will continue through this summer.
Sabrina leaves Oyster Bay having been one of the musicians to enjoy the once in a lifetime experience of performing on the main stage of Carnegie Hall. Sabrina played flute with the Symphonic Band and was the keyboard player for the High School Jazz band.
Sabrina has a delightful personality and an ever present smile.
Alexandra Venuto – Salutatorian
Another well loved Oyster Bay High School senior, Alexandra Venuto, earned the Salutatorian spot. Alex plans on attending Boston College this fall where she will study Psychology and Neuroscience. While at OBHS, Alex played as captain of the varsity soccer team. She also ran track. This spring Alex was a member of the 4 X 800 meter relay team that shattered the school record by ten seconds. The previous record was 10 minutes and 24 seconds. Alex, along with Fiona Brunner, Maria Moreno and Courtney Cartwright set a new school record with a time of 10:14.6 earning All Division honors. Alex plans on playing intramural soccer at BC in the fall.
Alex served as Student Council President and as a junior was a princess in the homecoming royal court.
Alex played the French horn with Oyster Bay High School Symphonic Band and joined Sabrina on stage of Carnegie Hall this past March.
Before heading to Boston, Alex will be working at the Red Mango in Greenvale.
