Farmingdale resident and member of the Farmingdale High School Varsity Softball team Tori Kornfeld, pitched a one-hit shutout for the Long Island Mustangs 18U team last Saturday in the Triple Crown Firecracker Frenzy Fastpitch Softball Tournament in Brookhaven.
Kornfeld pitched six and one-third innings of no-hit ball against the LI Shock until giving up a bloop hit that dropped just behind the second baseman and in front of the right fielder. Kornfeld struck out nine batters and walked one leading the LI Mustangs to a 5-0 win in the qualifying round. She then gave up only two hits the next day in a 3-1 loss in the semi-finals, allowing no earned runs and striking out seven. Kornfeld has an earned run average of just under one for this year’s tournament season.
