Rock ‘n’ Bowl Fundraiser Event
For Dolores Morga and Donna Asner to benefit the Lustgarten Foundation will be held from 6:30 to 10 p.m. at Farmingdale Lanes, 999 Conklin St. (249-4300). Dolores and Donna fought an amazing battle against this silent dreadful disease, pancreatic cancer. Research for a cure is the only hope. All proceeds will go to the Lustgarten Foundation in memory of Dolores and Donna. The Temple B’nai Torah Brotherhood will be holding its annual Flea Market, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 2900 Jerusalem Ave., Wantagh. Free admission. Galactic Blast Vacation Bible School
Hicksville United Methodist Church, 130 W. Old Country Rd., Hicksville, invites all children to Galactic Blast: A Cosmic Adventure Praising God Vacation Bible School. Board the spaceship Galactic Praise to see the awesome universe (and God) in a whole new way. The fun begins July 26 and ends July 30 from 9 a.m. to noon. Each Galactic Mission begins with a Bible Story in the Good New Galaxy, along with science activities at the Orbital Observatory, music at Moon & Tune, art projects at Cosmic Crafts, games at Rocket Rev and a snack at the Astro Bistro. •July 20: Housing and Development Task Force. The Task Force will develop and implement community outreach programs to assist in development of housing for all Long Islanders. Action LI will continue planning the next housing conference, study proposed development projects and the subcommittees will report. 9 to 10 a.m.
•July 21: Healthcare Task Force. The LI Wellness Challenge is well underway. Action LI will begin development of its Women’s Health Conference and an educational seminar for small businesses regarding Healthcare Reform and work to widely implement electronic medical records on LI. 9 to 10 a.m.
•July 22: Environmental and Energy Task Force. Legislator Horsely, along with energy experts, will discuss the LIPA RFP. ALI will continue development and implementation of its Energy Industry Economic Initiative and work to eliminate the use of fossil fuels on Long Island and continue to grow its commercial recycling program for local businesses. The subcommittees will report. 9 to 10 a.m.
•July 28: Transportation Task Force. There will be a report on the progress of re-opening of the LIRR station at Republic Airport, construction progress on Route 110 between the LIE and the NSP and the planned construction on Route 347; MTA takeover of Nassau and Suffolk County bus systems. The task force will receive updates on the 110 TMA. 8:30 to 10 a.m.
