Abe Bernstein Speeds Down the Track in Canadian Masters

Congratulations to 1956 Oyster Bay High School graduate Abe Bernstein who traveled to Toronto on July 17 and 18 to participate in the 2010 Canadian Masters Track & Field Championship Meet – and came home with plenty of gold!

Abe won the first place medals in the 70-74 Age Group in both the 400 Meters and the 800 Meters. He also ran the second leg of the 4 x 100 Meter Relay team that took first place in the 70-74 age group and equaled the Canadian age group record of 59.06 seconds in doing so. (That converts to less than 15 seconds per runner, all age 70-74!)

Abe is an active member of the Greater Long Island Running Club, and serves as the director of the Club’s 5 Kilometer Sprint for the Feinstein Institute, which will be held at the Sands Point Preserve on the morning of Aug. 14.

A long-time resident of Oyster Bay, Abe now makes his home in Manhasset.
