Sun Shines Brightly on the 25th Annual Cellini Lodge Festival

Patrons poured into the 25th Annual New Hyde Park Cellini Lodge Festival that opened last Wednesday at Michael J. Tully Park, Evergreen Avenue, New Hyde Park.

The opening day was a little cloudy, but the rest of the week made up for it with picture perfect weather and the entire park was jammed with folks anxious to attend the legendary Cellini Fair.

The fair this year was packed with “something for everyone.”  As usual there were the delicious Italian food booths serving both marvelous pasta with red sauce and with white clam sauce.  This year all the bread was donated by Sapienza Bakery and that, too was so good, fresh and plentiful.

And, who could resist the always-magnificent Zeppoles that are made as you wait.

Further, this year, to add to the mix, there was a pastry booth, just to tempt your palate.

Back that up with tantalizing red wine filled with fruit, or Sangria, beer, soda and water and your good to go for a walk around the park.

This year, one of the big attractions was the rock climbing and believe it or not a very agile young lady made it to the top, much to the delight of all cheering her on below.

A really scary ride was one that went back and forth and then without a warning straight up in the air.  A lot of screams were heard from that one.

It took all of these folks to make sure the zeppoles were just right.

Another had cars going all around, very fast, and then all of a sudden went backwards, just as fast.  One young lady got off hat particular ride in tears.

Of course, the regular merry-go-round is always a safe bet for the younger crowd, although some had a few misgivings getting on that.

So many attractions, each night there is a different band to the delight of all lined up to hear it and then there is always the booth for the games of chance including a “wheel of fortune.”

All in all the 25th Annual Cellini Festival is declared a huge success thanks to the hard work of all the members under the direction of president Gina Ferrara Dunas.
