GiGi’s Pizzeria Merillon Brewers Vs. Hillside Beverage Merillon Cardinals
The Merillon fall season began with a solemn moment of silence for the heroes of 9/11. The Brewers bats were inspired by the opening day tribute. The offense was powered by Darren Yang with 4 RBI’s, both Justin Yang and Cenzo Montoni with 2 RBI’s each and single RBI’s by Abidin Dauti, Paul DePaulis, Anthony DeVito, Daniel Mattei and Christian Zamora. The defense was also sharp with plays by Matthew Merolla at first and third, Daniel Goldberg at first, Cole LaRock at second and Matthew Strocchia in centerfield. The power awards go to Darren Yang, Matthew Merolla, Abidin Dauti and Daniel Mattei who hit hard doubles to left field. The gold glove awards go to Anthony DeVito, Cenzo Montoni, Justin Yang and Cole LaRock. The hustle awards go to Paul DePaulis, Matthew Strocchia, Christian Zamora and Daniel Goldberg.

The rangers jumped out to an early 3-0 lead. Jake Glueck led the early attack with a single in the first and double in the third. Eli Goodwin led the offense in the 3 run second inning by leading off with a single. Bailey Lee followed with a single. Ian Meyer singled loading the bases and Ben Goodwin doubled driving in 2 runs. Charlie Linden singled driving in the final run of the inning. William Lentini made a great catch on a throw from Jake Glueck to force a runner at second and end the Rockies top half of the third Jared Puntus hit a booming double in the fifth inning, Alfred Squicciarino advanced him to third on a hard groundout to first and Jared scored on a single by Matthew Farkas. Anthony Robayo led the scoring attack in the sixth inning with a line drive single. Franco Dimilta followed with a hard double to put runners on second and third. Eli drove in both runs with a single to cap the scoring for the rangers. Overall it was a great first game!
Dr. Margaret Zadnik Nationals Vs. City Line Florist Braves
It was a great game played by both sides. Offensive stars for the Braves were Duhan Lee, Ryan Wasserman, Nicholas Ungania & Brendon Park with 4 hits each. Kenny Hirschfeld, Daniel Semet and Evan Kreth had 3 hits each. There were great plays in the field by Jimmy Weedon, Nicholas, Ryan and Kenny. Edward Mauceri and Jeremy Wong contributed with 1 hit each. Great teamwork and sportsmanship shown by all the boys.

The Upper farms fall season started off with an exciting first game. The Hillside Beverage “Cardinals” were led offensively by Jarod Wong with 3 Hits, 2 RBi’s and 2 runs scored. Demetris Panouis, Philp Schurr, Marco Coluccio, Jack Nathen and Stephen DeRocchis also contributed with multiple hits and some great plays in the field. In the exciting 6th inning rally, Allessandro Gullo and Adriane Balkcom started us off with solid hits and Nicholas Moundros and Nicholas Rabinic came up with clutch RBI singles. Some solid defense was played as well by the Cardinals Seth Newman catching a good game and Michael Castelli shaking off an early injury patrolling the outfield. The whole team had a solid effort and we look for continued success the rest of the season.

The Merillon Hand Rolled Bagels Lower Farm Cubs opened their Fall season this past Saturday, September 11th with great style. The boys came to play, with Philip G., Attilio L., Ryan O., and Trevor Y. each contributing with multiple hits. Fielding was impressive with Ryan K., John D., Scott M., Alex S., and Chris Z. keeping the defense tight. Special recognition to all five of my catchers through the game…very impressed to see you all try someting new. Great game guys! Today Sept 11 opening day of baseball sunny and beautiful perfect to play some ball. Starting line up for the Padres Justin Marsella 2B, Marco Gullo RF, Dan Garcia LC, Giuseppe Seidita Catcher, Brandon Colon SS, Dan Rielly 3B, Nick Marsella Pitcher, Jesse Witt 1B, Ryan Garzon RC, Joe Mattei LF. Great hitting by all the boys driving the ball and hustling down the line. Some power was shown by Joe Mattei, Nick Marsella and Brandon Colon by hitting a double apiece. Had some great glove work on defense by Giuseppe Seidita, Brandon Colon, Jesse Witt, Ryan Garzon and Nick Marsella. Great job boys keep up the good work. Dr. Margaret Zadnik, DDS Nationals Vs. City Line Florist Braves
It was a beautiful opening day for fall baseball at Merillon. The Nationals gave it their all with solid offensive and defensive plays during their fall season opener. Nationals’ players Jose Betances, Aidan Chun, Garrett Roth, and Jonathan Grenard provided the offensive spark for the Nationals, each with clinch hits during the game. The Nationals defense was sured up with smooth plays by Jon Ziebitch, Chris Excelban, Lance Yetikyel, Joseph Vieni, and Eric Lungstad-Hughes in the field. Each player contributed to the team with terrific plays and enthusiasm during the game.
