HHS Marching Band, Kick Line to
Lead Parade Before Kickoff
The Hicksville Council of PTAs recently announced that the 20th Annual Homecoming Fair will take place on Saturday, Oct. 2, and all are invited to join the community event.
The fair is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. at Hicksville High School’s John A. Walker Soccer Field. As in the past, a number of activities will be featured, including many attractions like the popular castle bounce, a large slide, batter up and a hi-striker to go along with many game booths courtesy of the individual PTA units and school clubs.
The homecoming fair would not be complete without a parade – and the 2010 homecoming parade will start off from the Hicksville Middle School at approximately 1:15 p.m., showcasing the award-winning Hicksville High School Marching Band, the kick line, color guard and cheerleaders. The football team, the Hicksville High School Comets, will kickoff against Plainview at 2 p.m. Gate admission is waved for this special community event; plan to stay after the fair and cheer the Comets to a homecoming victory.
Lunch can be purchased as you walk along the fairgrounds thanks to the Hicksville Athletic Booster Club and the generosity of Applebee’s Restaurant. Snack items will be available for purchase at various booths during the day.
The Hicksville Council of PTAs sponsors the fair. All profits from the individual PTA unit game booths, 50/50 and raffle baskets will be used to fund Homecoming Scholarships awarded each year to deserving Hicksville High School graduating seniors. In addition, the Hicksville Congress of Teachers, Booster Club, Band Parents Association and more than 15 high school activity clubs will participate in this district-wide event. The Hicksville Building and Grounds will also be running two raffles, one for a bicycle and one for a netbook.
Game booth tickets are four for $2 and can be used at the various PTA unit booths (each game will cost one ticket). Attractions will require four tickets for each person or you purchase a pay-one-price (POP) bracelet for $15 (POP bracelets are only valid for attractions, not game booths). As an early bird special, purchase a POP bracelet from 9:45 to 11 a.m. and receive 10 free game tickets. Game tickets can also be used for a chance to win a sound system donated by Thomas F. Dalton Funeral Homes.
Mark your calendar and plan on spending a fun day at the 20th Hicksville Council of PTAs Homecoming Fair on Saturday, Oct. 2. The event will be held rain or shine.
