Supervisor’s 5K Race to Kick Off Oyster Festival

Annual Run Set for October 16

The law firm of Sahn Ward Coschignano & Baker, PLLC, has announced that the firm is the presenting sponsor of the annual Supervisor Venditto’s 5K Run, held on Saturday, Oct. 16 and kicks off the 27th Annual Oyster Festival. Supervisor Venditto’s 5K Run is conducted under the auspices of Town of Oyster Bay Department of Parks, with race management services provided by the Greater Long Island Running Club (GLIRC).

“We are proud to be part of Supervisor Venditto’s 5K Run, a wonderful tradition that encourages a healthy lifestyle in one of Long Island’s most scenic locations,” said Michael H. Sahn, Esq., founding partner of Sahn Ward Coschignano & Baker. “Our support of Supervisor Venditto’s 5K run is a natural fit for the Firm, which took first place in the Legal Challenge at the Marcum Workplace Challenge several weeks ago.”

The course is set in the hills of Oyster Bay, which is challenging for the runners and part of the Supervisor’s 5K Run’s appeal. The race begins at the intersection of South Street and Irving Place and proceeds south on South Street, then takes a left turn onto Berry Hill Road, then takes a left turn onto Sandy Hill Road, a left onto East Main Street, and a final left into Townsend Square parking lot to finish up in front of the Community Center.

“My fellow Town of Oyster Bay Board members and I are pleased to be able to offer local runners the opportunity to test their speed and stamina in a venue of friendly competition. For years, we’ve partnered with GLIRC and great race sponsors, providing the logistical resources to make this event a yearly success. We look forward to continuing these partnerships for years to come,” said Town Supervisor John Venditto, who proudly continues the five-year tradition of the race.

Participants are invited to run or walk the course, and each entrant will be presented with a high quality commemorative sweat shirt. The Run is a part of the USA Track & Field – Long Island Grand Prix of Long Island road races, with outstanding post-race refreshments, a raffle and awards five deep in age groups from 14 and under through 85 plus. Special awards will be presented to the top male and female finishers from the Town of Oyster Bay as well as the oldest and youngest finishers who are Town residents. For entry forms and details, contact Mike Polansky at GLIRC at 516-349-7646 or visit www.glirc.org.
