Volunteer Fair
More than 50 agencies expected to attend. Would you like to learn more about nonprofit organizations and charities? Do you want to discover how volunteering can make a difference in our community and in your life? Attend the 4th Annual LI Volunteer Fair, hosted by Farmingdale State College, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Roosevelt Hall’s Multi Purpose Room. The event is free and all are welcome. The fair brings together members of the LI community and the area’s nonprofits. Attendees will be introduced to organizations that need volunteer participation in order to continue to reach out to Long Islanders in need. Information on credit bearing internships will also be available through many of the nonprofit organizations. Halloween Parade
As a continuation of a longstanding Daler tradition, the Farmingdale High School senior class is preparing for its annual Halloween Parade. The parade begins at the rear of the high school, 150 Lincoln St., and proceeds down Woodward Pky., ending at the Woodward Parkway Elementary School. This parade is a chaperoned event that begins at 9:15 a.m. and concludes at approximately 10:30 a.m.

•In a new exhibition, on view to the public free-of-charge through Oct. 22, curators Beth Giacummo and John Cino have reached out to Long Island artists for a new group show entitled “Organic Abstractions.” The exhibit will be at the Briarcliffe College Art Gallery, 1055 Stewart Ave., Bethpage. •The Lockhorns Art Exhibit on display in Memorial Gallery, Sinclair Hall, Farmingdale State College (accessible to persons with mobility impairments) through Nov. 5. Artist lecture on Oct. 21 at 11 a.m. in Gleeson Hall. Gallery hours: Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The award-winning Lockhorns panel gently spoofs the state of marital bliss, poking fun at the foibles of both partners to the amusement of a worldwide audience in more than 500 newspapers. Their snappy repartee and witty banter has made them a perennial favorite. Farmingdale Adult Day Care Center
A social day care program offering socialization and stimulation to persons 60 and over. The caring staff provides innovative activities for those who can no longer attend regular senior centers because of physical and/or mental impairment. It also affords respite to caregivers allowing them valued time to devote to matters of home or personal needs. This interfaith service meets on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, 407 Main St. Support groups are also held once a month on Wednesdays. Adults and Children With Learning Disabilities
ACLD, a private not-for-profit agency, is offering individual and family counseling for the primary caregivers of individuals with developmental disabilities. Support groups are available for parents and siblings and new groups for senior parents, parents of transitioning high school students as well as a group for parents who have a developmental disability.
