Thunder 7’s Maroon Travel to Floral Park

GC Thunder 7’s Maroon traveled to Floral Park for their fourth game of the season, and immediately went to work on offense as Willie Blair chose heads and won the coin toss. Pierce Archer cut his way through the defense, with great blocks by Michael Tully, and Joseph Donovan, that ultimately led to his 50-yard touchdown run, his first of two on the day. From there, it was all Thunder offense, executing plays they labored over in practice. Tommy Boland taking the snaps, Thomas McAuley, Michael Haass with big runs wearing down the Titan front line and linebacker core leading to Thunder touchdowns by Grant Molloy, and by Griffin Minuto. Aiden Magnotta supplying the extra point, and Garden City was showing the results of strong coaching in a well-executed bounce back performance.

The defense dominated Floral Park all afternoon. James Burke, Matt Mohen, Enzo Cupani, and Tommy O’Hanlon repelled the Titan running attack with solid tackling, forcing Floral Park to punt. Luke Concannon, Willie Blair, Jack Dowd, and Aiden Byrne made huge stops all over the Titan backfield, and contained a frustrated Titan offense to minimal yardage gains. The Thunder D kept the pressure on all day, reading the plays, and responding to the adjustments made by Floral Park to wrap up the victory for Garden City. The Thunder 7’s win a convincing contest with the final score 27-13. Come out this Sunday to Stewart Field and watch the boys take on Baldwin at 9 a.m. GO THUNDER!
