Cradle of Aviation Celebrates First Manned Space Flight
The Cradle of Aviation Museum will celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the first manned spaceflight by Russian Cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin with a variety of activities at the museum. Fifty years ago at the height of the Cold War, Cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin became the first man launched into space. It sparked the Space Race between the United States and the then Soviet Union. Over the years, the US and Russian space agencies have collaborated on many successful missions including the International Space Station. Many activities are planned and all are free with museum admission. The Cradle of Aviation Museum is home to over 75 air and spacecraft displayed in eight museum galleries that take you through over 100 years of aerospace history.
