Shop and Dine in Garden City – Support the Local Merchants
I would like to ask you to do your part to support all businesses within Garden City, which includes Seventh Street, Franklin Avenue and New Hyde Park Road. I would also like to encourage all residents and professionals within Garden City to shop locally. Your patronage will be appreciated and is needed.
Many residents consider shopping and dining in our business districts as “experience shopping” because they meet friends and neighbors along the way and have an opportunity to interact with them. This is in stark contrast to frantically dashing through the crowds in the mall or the big box retailers.
I encourage residents to make a conscious effort to choose Garden City as the place to shop and dine. Customer service, selection and quality are outstanding. While shopping or dining let the merchant know that you appreciate them and all that they offer.
Long Island Power Authority (LIPA) — Lefferts Road Project
We have been advised by Long Island Power Authority (LIPA) that in order to improve the existing electrical distribution system in a section of our village, their crews will be in the area for the next several weeks to perform the necessary work. The area that is affected begins at the intersection of Old Country Road and Lefferts Road, south to Bayberry Avenue. All work will be taking place on the roadway and is scheduled to commence in approximately three weeks.
This planned work includes the reinforcement of the overhead facilities by installing new underground facilities. This project is being performed to improve the reliability of LIPA’s electrical system in the immediate area. During this time, LIPA’s crews will make every effort to minimize disruption to residents. Towards the latter stages of the project, LIPA anticipates service disruptions while the work is being performed to transfer the residents to the new system. Prior to any scheduled disruptions of power, LIPA will notify the affected customers well in advance. They have assured the village that they will make every effort to keep the outage time as minimal as possible.
