Jack Cutino Memorial Fundraiser

CJ and John Cutino of Engine Co. 2 and Ladder Co. 6, respectively, will hold the Jack Cutino Memorial Fundraiser to benefit the American Cancer Society at 7 p.m. at Faddy Malone’s, 3120 Hempstead Tpke., Levittown. Admission is $40 per person and includes open bar and light fare.

Great Strides Walk

Join the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s Great Strides Walk at Eisenhower Park, East Meadow. Check-in and breakfast begins at 9 a.m. followed by a 5K walk. Hosted by Jennifer McLogan of CBS-TV, the event also includes entertainment for the whole family, a mini-concert by the Joe Bayer Band and the opportunity to support a worthy cause. Miles for Melanoma

The Colette Coyne Melanoma Awareness Campaign will hold its 7th Annual Miles for Melanoma at Eisenhower Park, Field 2. Registration will be held from 8:30 a.m. The 5K run will begin at 10 a.m. and the walk will begin at 10:30 a.m. Registration will be $25 and includes a T-shirt and raffle ticket while supplies last. Children under 12 are free. A portable DVD player will be awarded to the participant with the most money raised. There will be special kid’s tables available for face painting, make your own UV sensitive bracelet, and nail polishing with UV sensitive polish. EMS Week Kick Off

The East Meadow Fire Department will honor its own EMS providers at a brunch at 11 a.m. at fire headquarters, 597 East Meadow Ave., East Meadow. The department is inviting local politicians and community leaders so they can meet and mingle with the EMS providers and recognize the volunteer service they provide to the community. The program will also include awards to outstanding EMS providers from the department and the community, including a Pre-Hospital Save Award presented to members and civilians who successfully resuscitated a cardiac arrest victim.

Religion and the Public Schools

The Supreme Court’s Establishment Clause Jurisprudence. This controversial issue will be the topic of a meeting at the Levittown Library at 7:30 p.m. Professor Thomas Schweitzer of the Jacob D. Fuschberg Law Center of Touro College will be the speaker. H will refer to many relevant cases including Aguilar v. Felton (1985) which said that New York City’s program using federal funds to pay the salaries of public employees who provided remedial education in parochial schools violated the First Amendment. Then in 1995 this case was overruled. The meeting is sponsored by the League of Women Voters of East Nassau. All welcome.

LI Fine Art Festival

On May 21 (10 a.m. to 6 p.m.) and May 22 (10 a.m. to 5 p.m.) the grounds of Eisenhower Park (Kite Field) will host the second LI Fine Art Festival. Visitors will have the unique opportunity to enjoy and purchase original, hand-made artwork created by top national and international artisans. Over 10,000 pieces of extraordinary original art will be for sale, including the works of painters, sculptors, photographers, jewelers, digital artists, glass, fiber and ceramic artists along with creations in mixed-media, metal, and wood. Free Veteran Pancake Breakfast

Serving our country with the utmost courage and honor, the selfless contributions of the veterans of this great nation are an enduring testament to the values of liberty, justice and freedom that all Americans hold dear. •Bingo For Kids/Families. On Tuesday evenings you can fun with your family at a special bingo designed just for kids. At Temple Beth-El of Bellmore, 1373 Bellmore Rd., N. Bellmore, play bingo for prizes (not cash). Doors open at 6 p.m. and games begin at 6:30 p.m. Admission is $5 per player. An adult must accompany the children. Adult play is optional. KWVA is seeking all who served in the US Armed Forces and UN Command during the Korean War between Sept. 3, 1945 to Jan 31, 1955 or Feb. 1, 1955 to the present. You did not have to have served in Korea to be a member.

•Levittown Historical Society. If you are interested in helping collect memorabilia, photographs, appliances and furnishings from the early days of Levittown, come down for an interesting evening. •Learning the Torah and Haftorah Trops on Mondays at 7 p.m. Instructor Rabbi Alan Lavin. This is a practical course for those who can read Hebrew to learn how to participate more easily at services and lead prayers. The course is open to all men and women.

•Beginners Hebrew course, sponsored by Hadassah, will be held at on Mondays at 7 p.m. Instructor Murray Zwerling. For those who would like to learn or improve their basic Hebrew reading.

•Introduction to Jewish Prayer on Mondays at 8:15 p.m. Text: To Pray as a Jew by Rabbi Haim Donnin. Instructor Rabbi Alan Lavin. The course is designed for those who would like to learn the history, meaning and structure of the siddur.

Levittown Historical Society and Museum

The organization collects, preserves and educates history of Levittown. Holds 7 yearly general meetings in the Community Room of the Levittown Library and maintains the museum located in the Levittown Memorial Education Center, Room 10, 150 Abbey Ln., Levittown.
