It looks like Captain Jack Sparrow might still have something left in the tank.

According to early estimates by Box Office Mojo, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, brought in an estimated $35 million on its opening day on Friday.

The fourth installment in the Pirates of the Caribbean series stars Johnny Depp as the heroic pirate who is accustomed to getting himself into, and out of trouble in a hurry.

The new film, however, will be different for fans of Disney’s hit-series. Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightly are out, and Penelope Cruz is in. “The Kings Speech” actor Geoffrey Rush remains in the cast.

Fans of the movie still went out, and propelled the movie to the top spot on the charts for Friday.

In the movie, Captain Jack Sparrow is in search for the fountain of youth, when he comes across a woman from his past. During the voyage, Sparrow encounters mermaids, zombies, and Captain Blackbeard—“the pirate all pirates fear,” according to Sparrow.

Overseas, the film has already made over $92 million.

According to Entertainment Weekly, by the end of the weekend, the film might make around $88 million, which would give it the best opening weekend of the year.

Of course, it wasn’t all about pirates.

Bridesmaids which has received strong reviews from critics and moviegoers came in second place on Friday, bringing in $6.3 million. The comedy had a strong opening weekend last week, bringing in $26 million.

Bridesmaids currently is one of the highest rated movies on Rotten Tomatoes, at 89 percent.
