Grand Opening Last Hope Animal Rescue Shelter
Last Hope Animal Rescue and Rehabilitation, Inc. has been helping homeless dogs and cats on Long Island for 30 years and has just expanded its services by moving into a larger facility. The festivities for the “official” grand opening of the Last Animal Rescue Wantagh Adoption Center, 3300 Beltagh Ave., Wantagh (the former Bideawee) on June 4 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the center. There will be a blessing of the facility and animals followed by tours, balloons, face painting, raffles, a jewelry sale and more. The celebration continues on June 5 from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with a brunch at George Martin’s Grill Fire, 22 W. Sunrise Hwy., Merrick. Cost is $45 per person. Seating is limited. Send payment with name, address, phone number and email to Last Hope. Your name will be placed on a guest list at the door. No tickets will be mailed. Donation to Last Hope can also be accepted if you cannot attend the brunch.

Presented by the Long Island Cabaret Theatre, which is celebrating over 28 years of music. The group will present this musical cabaret of movie songs with 30 talented singers at 8 p.m. at Temple B’nai Torah, Jerusalem Ave., Wantagh. The special guest will be Tom Stallone, with dance music provided by Mixmasters DJ. Tickets are $22 per person, through reservations or at the door. Free Veteran Pancake Breakfast

Bird Walk at Mill Pond Park
Join the South Shore Audubon Society for a bird walk at Mill Pond Park from 9:30 a.m. to noon. The group will meet at the park on the north side of Merrick Rd., west of the Wantagh State Pky. Chinese American Night
The Chinese Center of LI and the NC Department of Parks and Recreation will be hosting the annual Chinese American Night from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. This annual event has always been a family event for people who enjoy Chinese culture for the last 24 years. Come and enjoy this two-hour live performance of the best of Chinese performing arts: the agile and energetic talents of the dancing southern and northern lions, Peking opera star and face changer Li Lin. They are joined by the awesome acrobats Rui Zhang and Wang Qiong Qiong from Hebei Province, China. The Chinese Center on LI Chinese Traditional Dancers will be on hand to entertain. Also you will enjoy the popular vocalists Arthur Lai, Min Chen and CoCo Chen, Chinese martial arts, back by popular demand, an amazing troupe which will leave you totally speechless.
