“30 Rock” actor Tracy Morgan caused a stir after he allegedly made anti-gay comments at a recent stand up comedy show in Nashville, Tennessee.
Kevin Rogers, who is gay, attended Morgan’s stand up act on Friday and wrote on Morgan’s Facebook page about what he took from those comments.
“I figured at some point the gay jokes would fly and I’m well prepared for a good ribbing of straight gay humor. I have very thick skin when it comes to humor; I can dish and I can take. What I can’t take is when Mr. Morgan took it upon himself to mention about how he feels all this gay s*it was crazy and that women are a gift from God and that “Born this Way” is bulls*it, gay is a choice, and the reason he knows this is exactly because “God don’t make no mistakes” (referring to God not making someone gay cause that would be a mistake),” said Rogers.
Rogers accuses Morgan of also saying that if his son was gay, he better come out and talk like a man to his face, or Morgan would “pull out a knife and stab [him]…”
This isn’t the first time that Morgan has run himself into trouble with his comments. Two years ago, Morgan’s performance got out of hand during a show at Carnegie Hall. Like in Nashville, Morgan made disparaging remarks regarding topics such as homosexuality, drugs and pornography.
The Huffington Post tried contacting tried contacting Morgan’s representatives but they declined to comment.
“30 Rock” is an American television comedy series that takes place behind the scenes of a fictional live sketch comedy series depicted as airing on NBC that also stars Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin. It is unclear whether the network will comment on Morgan’s remarks.
UPDATE: Morgan has just released this statement:
“I want to apologize to my fans and the gay & lesbian community for my choice of words at my recent stand-up act in Nashville. I’m not a hateful person and don’t condone any kind of violence against others. While I am an equal opportunity jokester, and my friends know what is in my heart, even in a comedy club this clearly went too far and was not funny in any context.”
