Reality television hit the courtroom and “Teen Mom” star Amber Portwood will not be going to jail after entering a plea deal on Thursday.
The reality TV star plead guilty to two counts of felony domestic battery, stemming from an incident where she attacked her baby daddy Gary Shirely last year.
The single mother will face two years probation instead of seeing jail time, as part of the plea deal—Portwood was facing up to three years in jail and a $10,000 fine. Judge David Happe announced the decision in Madison County Court in Indiana on Thursday.
Portwood, 21, is also required to undergo 30 days of inpatient therapy, to get a high school diploma and to use $10,000 to start a college fund for her 2-year-old daughter Leah.
Portwood rejected a plea deal back in May when prosecutors offered her 90 days of house arrest and two years probation, according to Radar Online.
Cops became aware of the incident after it was caught on tape by MTV cameras that were filming the show.
The September 28 episode showed Portwood slapping, kicking and choking Shirley with their child present.
According to the Herald Bulletin, the judge said he wanted to start something “rehabilitating” for Portwood’s daughter.
She will also have the charge of felony neglect of a dependent dropped, according to the Herald Bulletin.
