Just take a second and imagine what Tom Cruise would be like as a rock star instead of an actor.
Instead of jumping on sofas he would probably be jumping erratically on stage; and it’s safe to say that there would be some daring stunts during his performances.
Well, Cruise fans will get a chance to see him in that role in “Rock of Ages,” which comes out next year.
Although the movie is still a year away, Cruise’s team tweeted out a picture of the “Mission Impossible” star on the set of the movie, screaming on stage and looking very fit.
In the picture, Cruise is rocking some black boots and is shirtless. He’s doing his best to portray an ‘80s rock star as he shows off a bunch of tattoos, and his long brown hair. But that’s not all; the actor looks like he really bulked up for his new role as rock star, Stacee Jaxx.
Cruise may be working hard so he doesn’t get topped by the star-studded cast that was put together by Director Adam Shankman—who also serves as a judge for Fox’s hit dance show, “So You Think You Can Dance.”
Other notable actors in the big screen adaptation of the Broadway show is Paul Giamatti, Russel Brand, “30 Rock” star Alec Baldwin, Julianne Hough, singer Mary J. Blige, and Malin Akerman.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly back in April, Shankman talked about the film and what Cruise brings to the table.
“I knew in my heart he would never put himself in harm’s way about taking on a part if he didn’t think he could deliver,” he told EW. “So it wasn’t until our first go around with his voice lesson that we sort of looked at each other and went, ‘This is gonna work!’ And we were basically dancing around the living room and high-fiving each other because he actually has a fantastic voice.”
