When the planning is over and the last dollar spent, your memories—although they will live in your heart forever—would look real nice in print, wouldn’t they? Your photos will be the heirlooms that tell the fairytale of the day you said, “I Do.” Whether you fell in love on the beach or at the fair, Long Island provides magical locations that will add that personalization you’re looking for. Here are our top picks for any season.

1. Old Westbury Gardens

It’s a house built for love, literally. When an American financier proposed to a British-born beauty, he promised one day to build her a home and garden to make her feel as if she were home—and he did. With large Romanesque pillars and a mansion complete with a beautiful grand staircase, rain or shine you will create pictures that will make you feel like you’re in the midst of your own royal wedding. 71 Old Westbury Rd., Old Westbury. 516-333-0048. www.oldwestburygardens.org

2. Planting Fields Arboretum

This former Gold Coast Tudor estate sitting on more than 400 acres of green lawn boasts impeccably landscaped gardens, a tunnel of pink and red roses, and  woodland paths winding through 200 acres, a circular pool, tea house and towering greenhouses that will add a little Gatsby-era romance to your day. 1395 Planting Fields Rd., Oyster Bay. 516-922-9200. www.plantingfields.org

3. Fire Island Lighthouse

Who doesn’t love a romantic beach shot when the sun is just setting—or rising—over the ocean? Well, at Robert Moses Field 5 you can include a beautiful lighthouse in that pristine shot. Crashing waves, sand, boardwalk and maybe even deer and wild rabbits if you time it right, will be there to greet and maybe even join you in a picture or two. And if you really want to bring the magic, consider taking your vows at the very top of the lighthouse. The terrace of the Keepers’ Quarters is available for nuptials. Robert Moses Causeway, Captree Island. 631-661-4876. www.fireislandlighthouse.com

4. Port Jefferson Village

Boats, hidden walkways, picnic areas, the beautiful Danfords Hotel & Marina, Harborfront Park, promenade along the shoreline and a quaint old-fashioned town—there is a reason this is the spot the Charles Dickens Festival is held here each and every year. Port Jeff has a lot to choose from, from the old world to the new. Share an ice cream, take a stroll through town, and sit on the docks overlooking the harbor. This isn’t merely a background, it’s a playground that will leave you with many action shots as well as elegant portraits. Port Jefferson Waterfront

5. Adventureland

Speaking of playgrounds…if you really want to add thrills to your photos, Adventureland is the spot to take things upside down, share a cotton candy or battle it out on the bumper cars. Now, these things are fun on a regular day, but add in a tux and veil, and it takes things to a whole other level. Get a shot of the whole bridal party on the carousel. And, if you really want to get crazy, put them all on the flying swings. Now that’s a shot—and an experience—you’ll all remember for years to come! 2245 Broadhollow Rd., Farmingdale. 631-694-6868. www.adventureland.us

6. Vanderbilt Museum & Planetarium

If you’re looking for the perfect all-in-one package, look no more. This place is a unique combination of mansion, mpark and planetarium all rolled into a vintage, luxurious gem. This Spanish Revival estate includes a cottage, hangar, boathouse, gardens, fountains, balustrades and living history at every turn. For the bride and groom who want something traditional and elegant, yet different and special—and a little out of this world—you’re welcome! 180 Little Neck Rd., Centerport. 631-854-5568. www.vanderbiltmuseum.org
