Christian Bale’s return as Batman is still a year away, but creators of the “The Dark Knight Rises” are preparing to tease the country with movie posters and trailers in the coming days.

The makers of “The Dark Knight Rises” released a movie poster on the films’ official website showing Gotham City crumbling down to the ground. With pieces of skyscrapers falling from the sky, Batman’s famous logo can be seen above.

The poster suggests a release date of Summer 2012. The third installment of the new Batman series will also available in IMAX.

Director Christopher Nolan isn’t just stopping at movie posters. According to the website Super Hero Hype, the trailer for “The Dark Knight Rises” will hit theaters when “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2” comes out on Friday.

The highly anticipated summer movie includes a new addition to the cast with “The Princess Diaries” star Anne Hathaway playing Catwoman.

Nolan announced Hathaway’s new role in a press release saying, “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Anne Hathaway, who will be a fantastic addition to our ensemble as we complete our story,” according to deadline.com.

The third installment of the series comes four years after the “The Dark Knight” packed movie theaters across the country, bringing in a record-breaking $158 million during its opening weekend, beating out “Spider-Man 3,” which came out in 2007.

The sequel poured in just over $1 billion worldwide, putting even more pressure on “The Dark Knight Rises” to perform well in 2012.

Returning to the cast is Gary Oldman as Commissioner Gordon, Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox, and of course, Christian Bale and his much criticized Batman voice.
