Lady Gaga spoke candidly about her past drug use during an interview with Howard Stern on his radio show Tuesday.

Although the pop star claims she doesn’t do drugs–other than frequently smoking marijuana–she did admit to using illegal substances in the past according to “E Online.”

“I really don’t do it that often. I’m really honest about it,” said Gaga. “My past using any drugs or dressing any certain way was never a rebellion, it was never mean to be a f–k you.”

Gaga claims she did drugs in order to fill a void saying, “I was so unhappy. I think that I was lonely and there was something about the drugs that made me feel like I had a friend. I didn’t do it with other people. I did it alone.”

Despite regretting using the drugs, she does claim it helped her music career. “I did it all alone in my apartment and I wrote music and you know what, I regret every line I ever did. So to any of little sweethearts that are listening, don’t touch it, it’s the devil.”

Gaga went on to send a positive message to her fans about her past drug use saying, “I love you and I respect this show and I know you want to talk about sex and cocaine and all of that, but the truth is I don’t want anyone doing drugs.”

Gaga first admitted to using drugs during an interview with Vanity Fair in 2010, once again claiming that it helped her artistically.
